Phd nerds unite! Should have known this game would attract others. Good luck brother.

Could be fun to see if the proportion of PhD playing this game is different than the percentage of the population with a doctorate, it would be an avenue to explore to attract new players :D

Looking really good, and we have one more victory than Brasil and Jamaica, the closest american teams in the consolation tournament, that's good news as well, and we're about 20 points away from having HCA in the first game of the playoffs

That was indeed an important victory. With this one we are heading to the next round. I don´t know If we can beat Australia down under, but we will beat India, so it´s 6-2 .. a safe record for the next round.

@Fwinns: I don´t know if it makes sense to calculate where we end and what difference we have. You never know against we have to play. From like you said Jamaica til Germany ... everything is possible. So I prefer to take it step by step and see what the future will bring. But I admit, looks not too bad for now, especially Uruguay is already out of the tournament. So one big rival less for the HCA for the next continental championship.

The point difference is only for HCA in the first round of playoffs. Brasil and Jamaica probably won't have that, but yeah it depends who we end up playing in the first round, and who the other teams play. All we need for HCA next season is to lose in the same round as Brasil and Jamaica (and Chile and Colombia and Peru if somehow they make it).
Last time around, we were behind Chile for only 1 point, a single shot made during the first phase would have given us the american championship last season

Brasil won by 9 points, so we need a 18points win against India in an hour in order to be the best ranked american team, should make things interesting =)

We had that and more in the first quarter, impressive win.

Canada @ Australia 63-89
That went down as expected. The difference was a bit high, but we had a horrible game shape and the bench brought almost nothing to the game (2-18 FG). In addition, some player had not their best day. The only player who played was Burimenko, but one player is not enough. Overall it was a well deserved loss against a good opponent.

India @ Canada 49-111
From the very beginning, the situation was clear. We have to win and at least with +18 to beat Brasil to be the best american team after the first round. And the team did it - already in the first quarter. But I never had the shadow of a doubt, that this team will manage it to stand on top and be the top challenger for the host of the next continental championship.

Overall, the first round gone down as I thought, not better and not worse. Good thing is that we are Nr. 1 of the Americans. But there is not time to rest. And the fight for the HCA is between Brasil and us. Next round is in Indonesia. For you guys, the game is somewhere in the middle of the night, for me it´s around noon, so i can watch the match. The Indonesian team is a good one and they beat quiet easily Argentina in their home country. It will be a tough challenge. But Brasil have to fight in Slovenija, also not a must-win game. It will be interesting, who will fight harder to get the price.
