Well Walnut & Homeboyz... I haven't completely decided the route i want to take in restructuring my team. I will promise you guys this... i will not be like my boy snake and just lose every game and relegate. Maybe i wont be a true contender for the league title for 1 season. Maybe i will who knows how the restructuring goes. But I will still plan on winning some games next season. My management and fans understand that we weren't built for D2 and even had we won we were aging and would have needed to find some restructuring if we made it to D2. instead we will have to make those adjustments in a bridge year here in D3. Season 31 will be one of patience in prep for season 32! Best of luck as you guys continue to improve your teams!

Nice job landing the highest salary guy in the draft too...I'm curious where I had that guy ranked.

I have to laugh...I undoubtedly missed a guy or two, and it looks like Crosstown dumped his draftees already as there were no 0 DMI guys on his roster, but here is the salary breakdown of some of the top picks:

(Round ups included listed in parentheses)

1-7K
3-5K (4971)
2-4K (3971)
8-3K (2977/2906)

Most of those guys went to upper division league teams, including the 7K guy going to the league runner up. I picked up 2 of the 5K guys (included Livingston, who was probably the 2nd highest salary in the draft at $5800+). They have really improved the draft in recent seasons, especially by making the 19 year old players much better overall. While it can be really hit or miss with some classes still, it is very much worth the investment. There is absolutely no reason for the best 5-6 guys in a draft class to end up with the best teams.

Here's whats going to make you sick... i didn't even know that the 7k guy was the highest rookie (19 yrs old) but i put NO scouting in at all. I saved all scouting points (mainly cuz i put $0 into scouting) and just figured i would let it go randomly and out of the 3 guys it drafted for me i got 1 pretty good PF. His potential is just allstar but he's got 4 things that are strong already and 1 respectable. So a year of training and he could be the new PF i am looking for to pair with Tommy.

To you guys point... BB has done a GREAT job realizing that a guy 19 can still be valuable. For like 20+ seasons in BB you were almost punished for getting a 19 yr old so they had 0 value. But now if you scout deeply (which i didn't) but if you do you could be left with a real decision of taking a good 18 yr old or taking a slightly more polished 19 yr old. in some cases if the 19 yr old has pretty good skills under the new draft format. losing that 1 year of training isn't all that bad. The guy i have thats 19 and 7k had he been 18 and a 3k or 4k guy i probably would have got him right around where they have him at 19.

Let the rebuild continue boys!!! hope your draftee's have promise!

Wow...I've had pretty good luck in the draft without investing on off years, but no single players like that.

Either way, it's another example of why people shouldn't completely forsake the draft.

I was looking strictly for 2's and 3's, so bigs were not a priority. I did discover a few and ranked them higher just because they appeared to be better players. While I did end up with 2 centers, at 6'1, I'm going to build Dowd into a 3.

1 last recap. Just looking through the draft and for the most part in the first round everyone got their #1 choice besides the last 3 teams picking. (including me who didn't scout) but oddly for the first 3 picks its not till Mits that i see someone who's first choice is a player it looks like they scouted and wanted.... for first round picks i literally see 3-4 good players... even my first round pick guy is AWFUL! Just always shows or makes me wonder what value to people really put into the draft. I mean with the new system of having pretty darn good 19 yr olds and expanded scouting on 18 yr olds is it time people begin to put effort into the draft or is it still a crap shoot????

Just always interesting. Cuz clearly guys could have better skills than just a salary or potential shows, but for the draft to be what 48 or 50 total players that BB randomly generates. (16 teams each with 3 picks so 48 players get drafted) i didn't look at all 48 guys in this draft but i feel like just in making an overlook, if these are the 48 out of 48 guys really only 5-7 are potential difference makers or guys that could have long BB careers.

just seems like such a really small percentage.

It does, and as I mentioned I was looking for specific things 2s and 3s, and stronger outside shooting, which is something I've admittedly been terrible at developing. However, if I found highly desirable guys they certainly moved up my draft board.

I'm a little against the BB grain in that I prefer balance without standout skills. The good thing is that it helps keep salaries in check a little more, and allows a manager to be flexible with different styles of play without losing too much. But in the big picture, it's more difficult to compete.

I also like guys who are the wrong size for their listed position, because if they have reasonably balanced skills, they are less work to develop for a position best suited for their height.
