Playing a game on normal has the same affect as not playing a game at all. The movement back towards 5 happens on off days as well.

Cheers, yes some of it is in the game manual but a lot of people don't bother reading the game manual so I thought I would cover it here as well.

If you read the section on enthusiasm I explained it there, let me know if it isn't clear though.

I'll explain it here anyway just in case.
Playing at normal has NO EFFECT on enthusiasm. So if you didn't schedule a scrimmage the enthusiasm would drop exactly the same amount as if you did play the scrimmage. Every single day enthusiasm gets a little bit closer to 5, so when you see the enthusiasm change after the scrimmage, you might think it is because the scrimmage made the enthusiasm lower, but actually the scrimmage had no effect. the enthusiasm drops back down all by itself.

OK, thanks for the clarifications.

It is explained well in the entusiasm section. I guess with my misunderstanding with enthusiasm values combined with "Scrimmages are purely for training and game shape purposes." in the scrimmages section I thought it might be clearer if you mention potential impact on enthusiasm. But since MCSmooth clarified that enthusiasm is affected even if you don't play a scrimmage that week, it doesn't seem relevant to put any enthusiasm talk in the scrimmage section (other than mentioning it must be played on Normal, which I think you already did).

Hey,
Hope it helped. I'll add a small note in the section saying that enthusiasm isn't effected.
Cheers

Just wondering if having players selected as All-Stars increases merchandise sales?

Ding.

Hey this is good stuff.

Can one of the GMs please make this a sticky thread?

It should be one of the first topics newbies should read in the help forum!

I don't believe playing in the All-Star game increases merchandise.

The game manual says:
However, we have made it so that no team benefits from the all-star game at all; injuries won’t be carried over to the league games, minutes played don’t count towards training or game shape, and there is no arena revenue from the game.

Merchandise would be an advantage. Also I had a player in the All Star game and didn't notice an increase in merchandise.

Definite 5-Ball, very good info. Thanks for putting in the time. Myself and I am sure many others appreciate the info.

2. Should I train game shape?

I would add that game shape is reset every offseason, so it is not advisable to train Game Shape at the end of a season.
