I prefer something like 60/40. Maybe starter is worse na the one with 90k salary but also You are no addicted from him. If one player has lower form or get injury You always could play the second one with similar stats. Having 95/5 is just too risky I think

I think the best ratio is 100/0
but he needs high stamina
and you need some money ready to buy another one if the boy gets injured

If you do the same for the other 4 players you can win at least 1 game at week and then have good chance in the play off

also you must forget the cup and full training for the rookies

just theory, actually I keep 12 players, 6 of them rookies to train, the other 6 with a ratio of 60/40 :-)

80/20, because that 20 may pay off in better GS (you can give your starter a more rest during the game) or give you a better result in cup (and give you more enth). Remember, that the bigger are the salary, the bigger increment in it every skill pop delivers - so 20k may give you only a 3-5 skills more at the price of good bench.

I would as you said go for the 80-20.

I would just add a full defensive ability for the 20k-salary player. You can always move your offensive away from a position by using a focus tactic. You cannot decide the focus of your opponent.
