Austria - Greece. 63 - 79
After the analysis of the past games of Greece, the conclusion was that there defense, especially OD, was very strong. So i tried to surprise them with a low-post tactic, even though our inside men aren’t that great. And because some of there players weren’t in good shape, i hoped we had a chance. But we didn’t, too bad.
Our starting-5: Schwarz - Hu - Kempf - Lachmayer - Natschläger
As mentioned, we played LP - crunch time and Focus Inside (also a wrong guess)
Q1 we could keep up with Greece until 15-17, but in the final 2 minute they scored some nice points, 15-22
Q2 it looked like there were only 3 of us on the court; 10-26 in the Q, resulting in a 25-48 at half time
Q3 it went a bit better with 16-21 in the Q
Q4 Greece knew they had the game in the pocket and took it easy, 22-10; final score 63-79
Looking at the scores, we had 6 players who scored (Kempf 21 Lachmayer 18), Greece 10 players with points on the sheet.
We had the upper hand in rebound (62-52) but had a lot of TO (12)
But the big problem was the FG%, only 26% (Greece 39%)
It’s a pitty we don’t go through to the next round, 1 big men would make a lot of difference. But Greece was, without any exceptionel player, just too strong.
For now, special thanx to Joey Ka for his advice in the Greece Match and creating a player like Kempf, and thanx to El_Hektore for creating Hu and keeping him into shape!
I will arrange a few scrimmages the upcoming weeks, and than its election time!
If anyone in Austria is interested in this fun-‘job’, i will step aside.
