Well, I'm the converse of Coach Shnuffy, I definitely took a step back this off-season as far as competitiveness is concerned.
I think our game was close enough that if I hadn't cheaped out on my PR guy then I might have scraped by with a 1 or 2 point win. At the last minute I picked up this 33 year old Frederic Owstien,
(46977157), to shore up my roster. He was sitting at 110K with a few minutes to go, and a TPE that is still between 300-400k. A couple other bidders showed up but I'm still pleased to have him for the $195,000 I ended up paying. But... if I was going to buy Owstein, and pay him 70k a week, why would I cheap out on that last 5k for a crowd involvement guy? Honestly, because I thought Owstein would be enough. I took it out on Resmi, but I didn't even look at him until after the match, or do much else in the way of scouting or intangibles. I'm just frustrated because if I pick up a win there, then maybe I'm looking to keep Owstein and add a guy when people tend to start loading up, instead of trying to flip him into someone that can get me back to being competitive. It's those little things...
