Ok, you really need to do some research before you post things like this in these forums. This player wouldn't even be considered for the U21 team if he was young enough, let alone the NT. I admire your enthusiasm but you need to spend more time playing the game and watching the NT before you start making claims like these.

Thanks for the good questions Chris, I'll take them one at a time.

First the purpose of the U21 team is really to provide managers with a good reason to train domestic players. There is a motivation for the managers because there is a merchandising payout and also I would like to think that there is some pride involved. Those are certainly the reasons why I have trained Numbers Ali to make the U21 team. There is also some fun to be had with the U21 setup and some of the games (like Brazil 2 seasons ago) evoke some serious emotions with real consequences.

I like the idea of saving prospects but I would not save players that I didn't think had a real shot of being help to the NT in years to come. The real focus for saving players would have to be within the first few weeks of this season for them to be of any real help to Canada. There is also likely to be less of an impact on enthusiasm in that time (with some matches likely to be walkovers early on).

The reality of the NT is that there isn't always a huge reason for people to become involved in it. Hopefully by reaching out to a lot of the managers who have players that we are tracking for NT and U21 teams through BBmail that would stir up some interest as these managers would have a reason to be interested in the team as their players may make it onto the rosters in the future. I also think the mentor program does a lot to stir up more interest in the game and I would like to encourage more players to become mentors and more of the Div III & IV mangers to become mentees.

I'll answer your last question in my next post.

I understand where you're coming from by looking at how much points he's scored. But go check out the Canada National Team and Under 21 Team and look at the roster to see the type of salary you need your players. If you register for the offsite forum, a lot of the players skills are posted so you can compare your guys to them.

Glad to see that you are running. I really hated the lack of serious competition against RIP in the NT election.

As for "i am a hockey fan", he is just one of the users who will flood your BB-mail on a semi-regular basis with a useless prospect for the team. So perhaps that is his contribution to the debate - to give you a glimpse of what to expect. ;-)
