do you actually have the authority to do that or is that up to BBs?

I have never personally worked or know Kumiko, however I have noticed that she had many achievements especially with the U21 team and had made positive effect towards this community. Definitely a tremendous loss to the community.

Rest in Peace Kumiko.

As for the name change, I personally feel that there should be a poll for the entire country before make that decision. I believe there should be a BB Mail to all members in this community as not many people read or post in the forum. I think Kumiko's achieves and impact should be engraved in the U21 News as she put a lot of effort toward that team. And last I suggest the games should start 5 mins later for a week as a moment of silence to show respect and sadness the community feels if it's possible.

Surely the vast majority would prefer "Kumiko Cup" to "Canada Tournament". No poll necessary.

So sad when someone passes away at such a young age. Life really is a precious gift, we should never take anything for granted. Rest In Peace Lisa (Kumiko).

As for the tournament, i am all for re-naming it the "Kumiko Memorial Tournament". It would be a really nice tribute to someone who gave so much to this game.

I'm totally shocked by this as well. There wasn't always a tonne of people watching the games, but you knew 9 times out of 10 Kumiko would be there making small talk in chat. She livened up the forums and chat rooms with her humor and passion and helped build the BB Canada Community into what it is today. Best wishes to her family and friends.

I fully agree with naming the Tournament (or something else significant to BB Canada) in her honor. She spent a lot of time during her final days here on this site and interacting with everyone. She was totally engaged with her online simulation basketball teams. She definitely deserves some sort of recognition for her efforts, untimely death or not. RIP
