Sebe rose ID

but still missing OD!

Quiet and expected W against Tounes, always defeated so far, despite heavy absence of Gulch, another +2 in his career

Senegal brought Misr to OT, princeton vs motion. Ghana destroyed Al Maghrib PIC vs MOTS while Nigeria felt again vs Al Jazair that virtually grabbed last second round spot. Almost any attack tactics were used, making PDP more than a guess.

Last two rounds will be against Nigeria and Al Jazair.

Match against Nigeria today will be completely irrelevant unless Nigeria would defeat us, Tounes and recover 120+ points of gap against Al Jazair (now 2W ahead). It's therefore time for some tests, a little risk to better understand options for the future. A good training week with only injured Gulch (again!!!) outside gameshape minutes window. Senegal and Misr chasing victories to bring to next round against Al Maghrib (leading by 5 now) and Ghana (trailing by 5).

in fact we are trailing by 13 at the break. Al Maghrib leads Senegal by 3, Egypt is defeating Ghana by 16, tie between Al Jazair and Tounes.

Lost by 8 against Nigeria. The two factors have been the 3/6 by Hijdra dropping overall offense productivity amd abyssal difference at board.

It was a good test to understand our Princetom offense, and possibly the presence of Sebe could have been turned result into a W by changing positions and rotations. However, effect of this L is null as contemporary victory of Al Jazair against Tounes completed the list of participants to round 2. For us, the W of Al Maghrib against Senegal with a MOTS is another good news.

Now in the right thread....

Second round, chasing a medal. Five matches to catch our season's objective. We start with second seed after undefeated Misr, a 3-2 instead of the 4-1 we could have had by defeating Al Jazair in the head-to-head last match of first round. A number of question marks raised in my head after the disappointing loss, come despite higher attitude: may tactics have impacted? I don't know.

Unfortunately, 4-1 would have made all the difference in the world. 3-2 is a good start but an ephimeral advantage as all our opponents are just one shot behind. Scoring difference is a good asset against host Al Maghrib, while Ghana is 2 steps behind us. And Ghana is going to be our first opponent. Don't miss it.

Won! A long head-to-head against Ghana closed with a precious victory. Despite being ahead by 10+ in last Q, Ghana pushed on 3 pointers to close the gap up to two possessions. Lekoelea sprinted ending with an open streak of 5 scores. 2-3 zone resulted ineffective as we scored 52/91 and 5/13 beyond the arc.

The other important result is the victory of Al Jazair against Al Maghrib, PIC vs MOTS. With four matches left, we have +2 and 150+ points of advantage against Al Maghrib having low TS, and +3 and about 100pts against Ghana. Medal is closer, although not here yet.

Senegal got its revenge. A large won despite resistance until Q4 in a match dominated by Ehemba (14/18 30p) with a missed PDP that weakened an already fragile defense. Not a big hit against a good squad.

With three matches missing we are +2 plus a broad advantage in scored points against 5th-ranked Al Maghrib. Dangerous Al Jazair, Al Maghrib and Misr are on our path to a medal, while Al Maghrib will face "our" Senegal, South Africa and Ghana.

Don't miss next matches!

Candidating for third and likely last mandate to try to catch a medal, although chances are low looking at rosters.

DONE!!!

there will,be time to comment but it's time to be happy and celebrate. SA is back to medals since season 19, where we grabbed a great silver medal against Nigeria. I expected al Maghrib to use more attitude and hoped in some surprise, as Ghana defeating Senegal while Al Jazair almost surprised Misr. The match between Al Jazair and Senegal will decide if we will play twice in a row against Misr or the winner of that match.

I am pretty satisfied for this season, although not over yet. Gameshape was regularly good, no big injuries, some nice pops across almost all the roster and a good combination of strategy, tactics and some bold move that make the difference. Thank you all for this BIG achievement.

Now, enjoy, relax, and get ready for exciting semifinals!
