Won! A long head-to-head against Ghana closed with a precious victory. Despite being ahead by 10+ in last Q, Ghana pushed on 3 pointers to close the gap up to two possessions. Lekoelea sprinted ending with an open streak of 5 scores. 2-3 zone resulted ineffective as we scored 52/91 and 5/13 beyond the arc.

The other important result is the victory of Al Jazair against Al Maghrib, PIC vs MOTS. With four matches left, we have +2 and 150+ points of advantage against Al Maghrib having low TS, and +3 and about 100pts against Ghana. Medal is closer, although not here yet.

Senegal got its revenge. A large won despite resistance until Q4 in a match dominated by Ehemba (14/18 30p) with a missed PDP that weakened an already fragile defense. Not a big hit against a good squad.

With three matches missing we are +2 plus a broad advantage in scored points against 5th-ranked Al Maghrib. Dangerous Al Jazair, Al Maghrib and Misr are on our path to a medal, while Al Maghrib will face "our" Senegal, South Africa and Ghana.

Don't miss next matches!

Candidating for third and likely last mandate to try to catch a medal, although chances are low looking at rosters.

DONE!!!

there will,be time to comment but it's time to be happy and celebrate. SA is back to medals since season 19, where we grabbed a great silver medal against Nigeria. I expected al Maghrib to use more attitude and hoped in some surprise, as Ghana defeating Senegal while Al Jazair almost surprised Misr. The match between Al Jazair and Senegal will decide if we will play twice in a row against Misr or the winner of that match.

I am pretty satisfied for this season, although not over yet. Gameshape was regularly good, no big injuries, some nice pops across almost all the roster and a good combination of strategy, tactics and some bold move that make the difference. Thank you all for this BIG achievement.

Now, enjoy, relax, and get ready for exciting semifinals!

thanks!

now again Al Jazair. We were defeated by Misr 116-84 while Al Jazair defeated Senegal and grabbed second spot.

Misr-Senegal and Al Jazair-South Africa will decide the finals. The first two spots are assigned to the two best teams, although Al Jazair is just a bit below Misr in my opinion.

But we are there, and have a little chance. Why not dreaming, again?

YEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

FINAL!!!!!!

Not a single chance to win gold medal, but South Africa got the maximum possible result.

My mistake about Mokitimi. I made the set up in advance to avoid any last minute problem and simply missed to save Mokitimi (from tablet I have some problems when adjusting the set up), then a VERY long day at work made me unable to review the change. Good enough anyway

Frankly, I didn't expect to win. The different attitude set by Al Jazair made all the difference in the world. After two losses, including the painful 95-91 at the end of first round that could have made our path much easier, I decided not to risk any PDP nor zone as Al Jazair regularly changed own tactics.

At the beginning of the season, the goal was any medal. Only 11 points of difference gave us the third place instead of the fourth, giving a sense to the normal spent against the MOTS of Al Maghrib. Silver is far beyond expectations, and is also the result of a great job of managers (almost all gave me players at top of gameshape, with almost perfect minutes) and some mistake of my opponents brought us here.

I am more than happy. In this BB-season my main goal was this, at the cost of some missed hit with my clubs.

Now, don't miss the match against MISR!

Congrats! An impressive upset victory! Good luck for the final!
And do not forget to put Mokitimi on the team-sheet. :)

Mokitimi is already in, tomorrow i will try to find some countermeasure about ....Black Death has anyone a Luke Skywalker to borrow?!?

Mokitimi is a very good player and I would have insulted me if that would have been relevant. However, he is NOT the best guard we have, our team is...a bit special as I already told.

After the final I will drop my usual note about the season, Chronicle of a Medal. Metal will be silver, but.... Who knows.... May be Misr coach will forget to set the roster!!!

The sad part is that final is Monday evening.....clashing with a VERY formal dinner I cannot miss.... Follow the guys on my behalf!

OMG....next season we will be in the WORLD CUP!

Mokitimi is versatile and can switch on defense.
Then he did his part to help my team to a domestic league and cup double! :)
