I did not track this last season so I do not know. This season it should be easily figured out.

Since the Big 8 6th place fights with Great 8 7th spot and vice versa I would guess the losers would go to II.1 and II.2

That leaves Big 8 8th place goes to II.3 and Great 8 8th place goes to II.4

This is just a guess. But does it really matter? Everyone will find out shortly, you can't do anything about it.

Based on last seasons movement into the NBBA, II.1/II.3 went to the "Big 8" and II.2/II.4 went to the "Great 8". By the way, why not just rename these East/West?

Well i think that's because not everybody in one conference comes from the same side of the country. I agree though, there should be better names for the conferences.

I think this is a really strange thing for a GM to write.

Obviously it matters, as someone has asked it. Suppose I'm promoting into a series where the Big 8 is very strong and the Great 8 is weak. To gain an advantage, I'll do what I can to increase the odds that I go into the Great 8.

And what's this bit about not being able to do anything about it? People are just asking what the placement algorithm is.

Sorry...

If you are promoting then you can only go into 1 single spot.

The demotions are the only thing that could be altered and the regular season has ended so the chance for that has ended.

This is what I meant by it can't be altered.

Ok watching the promotions this season up to Australian first division.

Winners of divisions II.1 and II.4 promoted to the Great 8
Winners of divisions II.2 and II.3 promoted to the Big 8

But you can have 3 teams relegate from one conference and only 1 from the other, so there can't be a fixed link between leagues and conferences.

I was pretty sure that 4 teams relegate from each league every season; this being the entire reason teams in 6th and 7th play a best-of-3 series (the loser demotes, the winner stays).

Yes, but the 6 vs 7 playoffs are between conferences. So you could have #6, #7, and #8 relegate from one conference, and only #8 from the other.

Sorry

In season 1, Chicago Bulls were winners of division II.1. They promoted to the Big 8 of the NBBA.

So, it seems to me that there is no fixed promotion placement scheme.
