To clear this up. My question was rhetorical.

For those who wonder the enthusiams/home / away. Look at previous match history and you'll see. I simply performed worse. To say it's because his team is simply that good etc. Well his OFFENSE was sure..his defense was similiar to other opponents.

My post was only frustration, not ignorance. I know that I was away. That my enthusiasm awas 1 point lower. Just me kicking myself because I went against one of my rules and had to pay for it.

.... In fact, I think you showed just how important Effort and Enthusiasm are in this game - minimal to none!

If I am playing a team with similar talent (at ANY position, let alone overall), that enthusiasm advantage has absolutely been the difference maker.

And if you're playing a team with either superior skills or tactics, how "HUGE" is the enthusiam effect, in your experience?
Just showing I can play the rhetorical/sarcastic question game, too.

Wow . . . just me or are people seeming a bit testy . . .?

My Cup run last season is probably the only true example that I have of higher enthusiasm with a 'normal' game engine (opposed to the game engine that is running during private leagues . . where things can be a bit unusual). There were several D.III teams with much higher payroll and better players at 2 or 3 positions that I was able to beat. The win over the Ozark Tigers was one example where his PF and C were much stronger than my front line - and even though I 'normaled' his TIE . . . I won at his place by 22.

The following week after a couple TIEs, against another tough The King and I team and won by 20 (with same effort).

When the Cup run ended, I believe I TIEd every game into the playoffs and took on tootsie with max enthusiasm in the first round, and won that by 24 with less effort (although HCA).

End of the day, enthusiasm may not mean a thing . .. quite possible many of us are wrong. But I will certainly be managing my enthusiasm the rest of the season just in case. Very good chance that with the possible exception of one game I will be TIEing here out so I have max enthusiasm in the playoffs.

I certainly invite you to crunch every game between now and June 21st.

Now we get to see the domination. There's only one player on the Big 8 all star team not earning more money than the most expensive player on the Great 8 all star team.

I did a quick (lots of rounding) reading of the total salaries of the winning teams (except the Tootsies, whose roster is in flux right now:

Dawgs: 210K
Clipshipmen: 146K
Werewolves: 133K
Crusaderz: 133K
Libertines: 97K
Divine Dragons: 74K

Makes me even more impressed with the Dragons performance this year. And a bit more pessimistic about anyone's chances to take down the Dawgs this season without some major upgrades.

I am certainly hoping that it is all about highest salary . . . . but I know that it is not.

I do have a crazy high salary for D.IV, but over 100K of that is Gruttadauria, Raden and Ghitti. After training this year, Weltmann will be around $35K next year . . . so I will need to figure out what to do if I get knocked off and don't promote. Luckily, I am pulling in almost 175K in attendance . .. otherwise, I would be running crazy debt right now.

my current 97 237 salary for 9 guys was 158 174 for 11 guys. I might later get another player around 10-20K but I need to get more out of my stadium. I hope Ward becomes great but I also got to promote soon his salary is huge

Some good pick ups on the TL . . . looks like the defense / flow are going to be much better. You have a huge arena, so the potential is certainly there for lots of cash (up to the soft cap anyway).

Well - after tonight we say good-bye to intraleague play. After a tough start, the Great 8 has won 19 of the last 30 games; and will be looking to push that higher playing at home tonight.

The top 4 in the Great 8 are hoping to finish 29-3 with wins tonight. That would help to make the beating at the All-Star game feel a little better!

clipshipmen will be very excited to see conference play start again, as he has put up a 3-4 record over the last 7.

The upset of the series was most likely Wisco knocking off Mt. Olive at Mt. Olive on TV . . .. that was Wisco's only win, and it was after Wisco had gone inactive. Gloversville also picked up wins against Queen of War and Mt Olive well after going inactive.

There has been a lot of transfer list activity over the past two weeks - looks like it will be a fun run down the homestretch. Best of luck to all.

It was fun. Thanks for injecting a bit of rivalry into the inter-conference play! I'm very pleased with the progress my team has made.

How do you tell that someone has gone inactive?

They haven't 'officially' gone inactive . . . yet.

Go to the League IV.49 page, above the standings it has the link for the IV.49 Forum, instead of clicking on that, just hang your mouse pointer on it.

You should see the other options available: All Star Weekend, Conference Overview, Leauge Schedule, etc. Click on Conference Overview - it shows each team, who their rival is, and the last time they logged on. Click the Great 8 link on the top left to go to the Great 8.
