Pszczyna Team 88 - 72 Herman Griffins(59280334)

Damian13sters squad went on the road to Crisler for a tough road game against the Herman Griffins and with a little extra effort, they were able to come out victorious without an ideal lineup. This game was decided by rebounds and free throws as Pszczyna Team had 10 more rebounds and 16 more free throws made en route to the 16 point victory. Pszczyna Team got off to a hot start ending the 1st quarter up by 14 and that set the tone for the rest of the game as they were able to hold off the Griffins. Roberto Chiappori led damian13sters team as had 24 points and 16 rebounds during the matchup. Bilgehan Demirkiran led the Griffins with his 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Aristocrats 113 - 48 Syndicalists' BC(59280335)

Sophomore Naismith team Aristocrats led by GodBeard, were able to pull out a convincing 65 point win over Syndicalists' BC who put more focus on training in this one. The Aristocrats put extra effort into the game surprisingly, but either way a win is a win and the Aristocrats continued where they left as they begin the season 2-0! Roberto Fornasieri led the way with 21 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists to power the Aristocrats passed Syndicalists' BC. John Sammons led the way for Fresh24s team with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Saturday June 22nd, 2013 recap

Big 8

Saskatoon Storm 21 - 138 Philosopher Kings(59280337)

It seems the Storm saw an inevitable loss heading their way, on the road, against the top team in Canada and coming off a CT and decided to try and one-up Genso Suikoden II. They were successful as they were punished by the Kings by a defecit of 117 points in one hell of a beatdown. WHU once again led the way for the Kings as he dominated with 22 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks while avoiding fouling out. Alberto Monis managed 11 points and 3 rebounds, but that was not nearly enough to overcome the 117 point loss.

Genso Suikoden II 27 - 139 Ottawa Lightning(59280338)

The routine Genso bashing took place once again this time at Sprite Zone Arena as 17038 people piled in to watch the beatdown. Was it ever enjoyable for them as Ottawa Lightning were just fooling around on the court and managed to pull out a 112 point win, shockingly not the largest win of the night though. Pete O'Carroll led the beatdown as he scored 31 points, grabbed 25 rebounds and dished out 9 assists in the game. Marc Hederman continued to be Gensos MVP as he managed to score 10 points and grab 12 rebounds.

Lawrence Park Panthers 61 - 76 The Hounds(59280339)

The Hounds took away a very comfortable 15 point win as they were in control from start to finish. When you look at the box score you would think The Hounds dominated as they out rebounded, out assisted and made more free throws than Lawrence Park Panthers and the 15 point defecit is a bit generous to Lawrence Park Panthers. The reigning Naismith champions continued on their winning ways as they are now 3-0, looking at a repeat currently. Ghenadie Cebaniuc scored 20 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, stole 3 balls and blocked 2 shots in the win. Kearns once again led the Panthers as he was able to drop 27 points in the loss.

Blenkinsop 84 - 64 Quebec Pugs(59280336)

Blenkinsop recovered from their defeat at home against the Kings and were able to handle the Pugs from Quebec rather easily as they had control from the beginning and never let go of it. It seems the Pugs continued with their training and odd tactical decisions and once again came up short as they drop to 1-2 on the season. Liang Lui Sa scored 17 points and had 4 assists to lead Blenkinsop to the big win, while Michalis Potamias led the Pugs with 19 points and 16 rebounds.

Great 8

Herman Griffins 88 - 96 Headless Thompson Gunners(59280341)

The Griffins put in more effort and put out an ideal lineup, but it was not enough to overcome the Gunners home court and big men. The Gunners continue to show why they were Naismith runner ups last season and look to be on the right track to change that silver trophy into a gold one. The game looked to be well in the bag after 3 when the Gunners were up 22, but a huge 4th quarter by the Griffins made the game interesting, but alas they were defeated and drop to 0-3 after three tough games. Roberto Merlonghi had 27 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Bilgehan Demirkiran dropped 31 points, and grabbed 18 rebounds, but it was not enough for the Griffins.

Beanz Odyssey 43 - 109 Luxury Tax(59280340)

Luxury Tax got back to their winning ways as they got the easy home win over the Odyssey and managed a 68 point win. The Odyssey are focused on training this season and it seems winning is not in the books as that is three straight contests they have dropped. Gerard Jovellar once again led Luxury Tax with 30 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists, while Spadaro once again led the Odyssey as he managed 20 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

Syndicalists' BC 86 - 80 Pszczyna Team(59280342)

Heading into the 4th quarter with a 5 point lead, damian13ster and his team seemed rather confident, however a 4th quarter meltdown resulted in a massive road win for Syndicalists' BC and a devastating loss for Pszczyna Team. It seems the injuries are beginning to catch up to Pszczyna Team as they were able to win depsite of them the first two games, but not this one as they fell and fall to 2-1 on the season. Arlie Nellas led the wy for Fresh24s team with his 19 points, 19 rebounds and more importantly the team being +18 while he was on the court. Placido Barbiroli led Pszczyna Team with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, but it was not quite enough to get the victory.

蝴蝶Supreme 89 - 63 The Aristocrats(59280343)

*sigh* I hate reporting wins for Kumiko. So after being tied at half, 蝴蝶Supreme came out of the locker room and every player had what seemed to be whip scars on their backs and Kumiko walked out looking a little too happy for someone in a tie game. Either way, im sure Kumiko putting a whip in a case labelled "Punishment" was unrelated to the scars on the backs of the players. Anyways, 蝴蝶Supreme came out running and dominated the second half en route to a 26 point win. Antonio Echanove led the way with his 20 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists, in the big win. Roberto Fornasieri led the way for the Aristocrats with his 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Great job bbailin. I will take over saturday's writeups if thats ok with you. I have to admit, I didnt expect a loss in that game, but motion offence didnt do its job and LI proved to be dominant once more. I think that the real way to decrease its effectivness is to decrease effect it has on rebounding. This is what kills outside playing teams in game like mine. Injury did complicate couple of things, but it is mostly because of training. If I actually put my best lineup on the field that game would be a no-brainer

I agree, if you had put your best lineup you would have won that game, and I'm going back to passing training so I was fortunate to pick up a win there. However, I think the rebounding edge had more to do with the fact my players have much better rebounding than your players, particularly when the positions matched up (ie. Main's 17 over Arsenault's 15 is a big advantage). And I don't think this is an indication that inside offense is better than outside offense, but your team isn't built for a motion offense.

Those 2 games should be a lesson for my opponents, don't play Motion against me. :)

Increasing SB only solves a small part of the LI dominance problem. Teams still aren't going to succeed playing outside attacks if the top 3 point shooters are making only 20-30% of their attempts.

actually my team is built for motion offence. It is just not built for defence when I am not craming on the inside. Princeton has similar results. I am going to continue testing despite those results

I don't think Bradshaw has enough rebounding to be playing that position without expecting to have him lose the rebounding on a nightly basis by a lot. I think once you're done training REB, he will be in the future, just can't expect to win regularly with him there now.
