I wouldn't make your goal be to run a 3-2 defense always. You need to be able to adjust to other teams. If you are running a 3-2 against a very good inside orientated team with good passing and driving skills your outside orientated defense wont help. You will do well against teams with low passing and low flow but teams who can move the ball past your perimeter defenders will kill you. You need to train total packages from start to finish. Your bigs need to have a good base of IS/ID/RB/BS as well as having some OD/Passing/Handling. Your perimeter guys need to have a good base of Handling/Passing/OD/JS/JR/Drive and it doesn't hurt if they have some ID and RB and SB as well. Your SF needs to have a well rounded balance of all of these skills to really be effective but SFs usually tip the scale more in one direction or the other as far as Inside and Outside skills and base that on your other players and what type of offense that you would prefer to run. Its not a game where you can win overnight which is why a lot of guys quit. Sometimes it takes 6 or 7 seasons to just build a solid base of players to start winning with. Patience and training is usually the key. Just keep training however you want and if it doesn't work how you planned you can always sell and start over again. Training only makes players more valuable so you will at least get paid for your time.

I don't plan on using 3-2 as my everyday defense, I will mix in base, but I do want to experiment with 3-2 as I feel the upsides of having that as a solid defensive option is a phenomenal option.
