If anyone has been following any of the NBBA forum posts, Mediocrity has been providing the NBBA with weekly power rankings. I saw this and was inspired by his creativity and he was generous enough to show me how he calculates it.

The way the system works is it gathers data from buzzermanager and ranks teams on a 400 point scale. With 100 points coming from each of the following categories:

W/L record
Point Differential
Total Team Salary
Cup performance

I have tweaked the formula for our league and lessened the importance of cup performance down to 85 points and redistributed the difference to the other three categories. I believe this more accurately portrays DIV 2. If you have any more questions about the system I encourage you to go check out Mediocrity's post in the NBBA forum.

But without further adieu, here are our division's power rankings after 4 1/2 weeks of play:

1. Deronimo (7-2) - Off(1), Def(4), Rating (399.85)
2. Flashover (7-2) - Off(3), Def(1), Rating (380.12)
3. US DAGGERS (6-3) - Off(2), Def(3), Rating (366.63)
4. Splash Gang (6-3) - Off(7), Def(6), Rating (356.54)
5. Alaska Alphas (6-3) - Off(8), Def(2), Rating (356.18)
6. Puff_Puff_Pass (6-3) - Off(9), Def(5), Rating (351.23)
7. Indy Crusaders (6-3) - Off(12), Def(7), Rating (345.31)
8. Retired_ (5-4) - Off(6), Def(9), Rating (310.33)
9. Cal Bulldogs (3-6) - Off(10), Def(11), Rating (305.51)
10. High Point Heroes (4-5) - Off(11), Def(14), Rating (299.38)
11. Green Bay Gunners (3-6) - Off(4), Def(8), Rating (291)
12. New York Chunks (4-5) - Off(5), Def(10), Rating (286.82)
13. Los Angeles Lords (3-6) - Off(13), Def(12), Rating (223.88)
14. Sir Chewbacca (3-6) - Off(14), Def(15), Rating (216.59)
15. Streetlight Nightmare (3-6) - Off(15), Def(13), Rating (200.61)
16. RAINDROPS! (0-9) - Off(16), Def(16), Rating (18.93)

I will be adding some insight about the league in the upcoming weeks along with the rankings. If anyone has any suggestions as well please let me know!

I think the power rankings need to account for the quality of each team's uniforms and how many of their cheerleaders it takes to change a light bulb.

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

Thanks, and where was that in nbba last year? Looking at that and from my own scouting for today’s game, I would have thought Indy would have had a higher rated defense.

It's in the nbba season 56 forum for this season!

The defensive and offensive efficiency ratings are just pulled straight from the buzzermanager's "statistics by team" page. From just a quick look, my guess as to why Indy's defense is lower ranked than you may expect is: while they rank top 5 in ppg allowed, they rank much lower in steals per game, blocks per game, and rebounds per game. Putting them at 7.

Looking closer, that box score is bananas. I never have been shut out from 3, the lack of scoring inside and by my wingmen is completely baffling, the -20 FTA, and my scrub rookie PG got a -8 in 0 minutes?!

I had a GS and effort advantage -- I think that explains some of the FT disparity and how even Becattini was bottled up.

The wonder to me is that my team was able to keep it close long enough for Torgyan to foul out after he took out my center 7 minutes in. Watching him and my foul-loving trainee whale on each other for a couple quarters was fairly entertaining though lol

That’s the part that I also least get. How does he even foul out being that much better of a player? Aggressiveness factor just makes some players garbage.

Plasma, didn’t you and I take the Guessing 101 class together? I think we both almost failed that one. 🤣
