Nothing burger game day.

I got my hopes up when I saw that IU CT'd to Dominate's TIE, but Dominate held the fort for an impressive win.

Blacksheep wins and grabs 6th place from Two O's who struggle in their prohibitive match against JCW.

Cassville guys took a side bet on who would defend Bonilla best. They'll sort out who won the bet, but holding the top scorer to only 9 points is a real defensive achievement.

Moment of silence for Doctors of WI, you will be missed. Although this will allow me to potentially sneak in the playoffs, so I'm not too beat up about it!

If you follow this series, you know I had marked this game day in red ink. I needed to catch up to X Dominate X's monster win against Crows. If I did I'd likely recover my 1 game advantage, if I didn't I'd fall behind in the standing and would have a hard time holding on to the 1st seed. That means it wasn't a good time for my most paid player, $80k/week Shooting Guard Jimmie Morris to s**t the bed. Playing in the C position of a reverse patient offense, and going against a promising but still not ready 19yo, Morris shot an atrocious 8-27. Luckily we somehow patched together a win from other contributions.

Meanwhile, X Dominate X went for it @ Ashkickers. That would have been a twist -- regaining the 1 game lead by winning another away game. Ultimately Ashkickers had too much and pulled away between the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

When it rains buckets, it pours buckets. For their first ghost game as newly botified team Doctors of WI (who somehow are still in the cup---one must assume they'll go out on Thurs) draw Yuck. Folks, what Yuck did to them wasn't pretty.

Yes, Globo's is going to the playoffs, despite Duane Jansen's tweets against the GM. Rumor is that Jansen thought about pulling off a Harden, but he did show up and drop 42.

Bonilla is back to shredding, but Motor City can't defend yet, and Scrap Heap gets whatever they want. It is them, and not Cassville that score the most points this game night.

Quietly but surely JCW is keeping pace. Mark Oct 21 @ JCW's arena. It's a match with enormous implications for the whole season.

Another topic: I learned last season that something I had always considered a total nuisance --- the All Star Game --- is actually hugely consequential.

Last season for the first time I saw the merch effect of having a player on the All Star Team (the previous season I had no all stars, despite being second in the conf, and before that the merch breakdown wasn't so clear). So let me guess starters:

Big 8

Sargent (backed by Pappalardo)
Poch
Gattoni (Chavez)
See Long
Kolesnik

Great 8

Bonilla
Jansen
Sebidos
Quanfu
Pruett

One of my pet peeves is teams going bot midseason

I've played other games where they waited until the offseason to clean up bot teams. It may not have a huge effect here, but I have seen times when PD mattered in the standings. Teams that play him from now on will rout him. I'm not sure it's enough for the 4-6 teams on the blue side to make a huge jump. Still, it isn't right when some teams play a full squad and others play scrubs.

Another pet peeve of mine shows up in Doc's players. I took a look to see if there were any players I could scam off the TL. His best player already has a 500K bid - which is fair. But several other players have big stats and low stamina. When I see players that have 100+ TSP and Inept or Awful stamina, it just makes me shake my head. Good players get wasted because managers won't train stamina.

And you can mark your calendar if you want, but it won't matter even if I win that game. PD is too much to overcome. Tomorrow's BBM game is a lot more significant than that.

Yeah I don’t know if I get a starter or not. My roster build isn’t really conducive to placing all stars. I don’t typically score a lot. I play my bench big minutes limiting stats for individual players.

@JCW - I was excited that I was playing a bot and O’Neill might actually get 48 minutes (he didn’t) but I never considered the fairness. If I could do it over I would have shaved some points and fielded a B lineup. That’s tough to do also though because you have to balance minutes for your stars. Don’t want to field an injury in a scrimmage because you passed on minutes on a Tuesday. I wish the roster stayed until the end of the season. I wish the tactics were randomized as well.

Anyway, good luck fellas. Looking forward to October 21st.

Completely agree on the unfairness of mid-season bot-ification. At the very least, if they aren't gonna wait until the end of the season, it would be fairer to wait until the end of one of the three chunks of the season (first intra conference, interconference, second intra conference).

Not blaming you in the least. Even if he went bot 2 weeks later, the result would still be the same. A +124 game just amplifies it. The honest truth is that I was never going to catch you on PD. It would take some catastrophic injuries for me to beat you. So the ending is already foretold.

My point is that there are some situations where teams are very closely matched and this type of thing happens. That's when it really sucks.

FWIW, if anyone wants the "secret sauce", Cassville Yuck has the top 4 Blocks leaders in the league. As a team, we are in 2nd place and he almost doubles my blocks per game.

So for all you kids out there, train shot blocking.
