Thank you for your graciousness. I honestly figured after game 1 that the series was (most likely) already decided. I'd be interested to know the percentages in BB of how many teams go on to win the series when winning game 1.
But, if I was going to make it interesting, I had to take risks. One risk was playing TIE at home in game 2, and guessing your game tactics. Though I was wrong on the tactical prediction, my defense improved, home court helped, and got the win.
For game 3, I also made several adjustments. I went out a purchased a National Appeal PR-Manager, which though basic in skill, I understand that the specialty effect is the same regardless of staff level. I then committed to Look Inside, recognizing that there was no way I could go toe-to-toe with your guards. I also changed some of the defensive matchups I had set up in the first two games. For example, Piexoto hammered me in game 1 to the tune of 25 points and 18 boards, and was pretty good in game 2, with a 20-20 game. By game 3 I realized that Geisler (starting C) wasn't cutting it and I shifted Maayan to defend Peixoto. The difference was pretty significant, 7 fewer shots taken, 11 points and 13 boards. It was a risk, because I fully expected Robitaille to blow up for a big game, but he stayed pretty quiet. The other shift that may or may not have made a difference was training Stamina this week. I had hoped my GS would hold on for one more week if I managed minutes well, and if stamina improved overall, the players would obviously perform better longer, and they did.
Really good series. The win for me was super in quality because you hadn't lost a league game since August (wow).
And I don't think you're necessarily back to the drawing board. Your core is young still. Malmignati will drop in skill the quickest, but Moreau won't take huge hits next season. When I am in "win it now" mode, I shoot for age 34 for my veterans. I know that they will decline, but it is pretty slow at that point. Things accelerate downhill quickly beyond that.
Best of luck to all going forward.
