Congrats to the Moose for being the last one standing in the tournament! Good luck in your next matchup. I had to CT for my game to at least give my team a chance, but to no avail.

I'm going to bow out gracefully. I don't see a feasible way to win the game, but this is the farthest I've ever gotten.

Now, we all know what is going to happen here, next season, I will have a Div II opponent in week 2. Whenever I have a good run in one season, the next season I have poor opponent draws. Anybody else have that same experience?

If the Big 8 lose the allstar game it won't be a surprise. 4 of the 5 starters got ONE minute of playing time before they were pulled. Just stupid.

All the time. But I usually don't go too far in the tournament regardless which is why it came as a bit of a surprise to me that I was able to last this long. Either I get tough opponents or I don't manage my lineups properly. Even the tournament this season wasn't great for me (in terms of opponent draws). After the first week, my opponents just kept on getting exponentially tougher, and I was lucky to survive a few games. But here's to a more favorable draw for us all next season.

I had an okay run last season. I don't expend a lot of time or players on the tournament. This year I was surprised I went as far as I did. My final opponent was like number 60 in their country. And by then I was just using guys wouldn't the time to get training in. I sure did have a lot of bots, all the way to the last opponent I think.

Wow what a game between my team and Crusty. A back and forth nail biter that literally went down to a buzzer beater at the end of the game. 103-101 win for Blazers. It could have gone either way both teams playing tough. Matching each other score for score. Very few fouls for either team, hard fought physical game. Time for a vacation I think. LOL

From the looks of things, every playoff team is virtually locked into their current seeds, except for my Lightning Hoopers and the Crusty Crustaceans, with the winner of this matchup taking the number 1 seed in the Great 8. Should be exciting. Definitely looking forward to the playoffs, good luck to everyone!

On another note, looks like the Catzzz will be staying at the number 8 spot barring a major turn of events. Tough to see another active and competitive team go, but best of luck in your future league and rebuilding efforts.

I’ll be the first to tip my hat to the Moose. Great series and what a big statement in game 3 playing my team on the road! Great game planning on your part, and I think you’ve got a really solid team and you should be able to compete in D.III. I wish you all the best in your future league! Sad loss for my team, especially since I had a chance to close it out at home. But it’s back to the drawing board for me.

Thank you for your graciousness. I honestly figured after game 1 that the series was (most likely) already decided. I'd be interested to know the percentages in BB of how many teams go on to win the series when winning game 1.

But, if I was going to make it interesting, I had to take risks. One risk was playing TIE at home in game 2, and guessing your game tactics. Though I was wrong on the tactical prediction, my defense improved, home court helped, and got the win.

For game 3, I also made several adjustments. I went out a purchased a National Appeal PR-Manager, which though basic in skill, I understand that the specialty effect is the same regardless of staff level. I then committed to Look Inside, recognizing that there was no way I could go toe-to-toe with your guards. I also changed some of the defensive matchups I had set up in the first two games. For example, Piexoto hammered me in game 1 to the tune of 25 points and 18 boards, and was pretty good in game 2, with a 20-20 game. By game 3 I realized that Geisler (starting C) wasn't cutting it and I shifted Maayan to defend Peixoto. The difference was pretty significant, 7 fewer shots taken, 11 points and 13 boards. It was a risk, because I fully expected Robitaille to blow up for a big game, but he stayed pretty quiet. The other shift that may or may not have made a difference was training Stamina this week. I had hoped my GS would hold on for one more week if I managed minutes well, and if stamina improved overall, the players would obviously perform better longer, and they did.

Really good series. The win for me was super in quality because you hadn't lost a league game since August (wow).

And I don't think you're necessarily back to the drawing board. Your core is young still. Malmignati will drop in skill the quickest, but Moreau won't take huge hits next season. When I am in "win it now" mode, I shoot for age 34 for my veterans. I know that they will decline, but it is pretty slow at that point. Things accelerate downhill quickly beyond that.

Best of luck to all going forward.

Great season Duke! I hope you find success in DIII. I was half rooting for Hoopers because they are in my conference and because they are a younger team, while you have some aging veterans that are probably on the decline, but congrats regardless!

I think this is the updated oldballs list:

Winking Mares
Lightning Hoopers
Javamen
Blazers

Pretty accurate? Haha. Maybe it will be one of us to get out of this godforsaken league next :p
