Season 68 Tip off

Saturday tip-off features a few interesting games.

First game, the Vatican Vipers waltz into the Buckner Bandits. The teams look eerily similar to each other.

The Main Event, features the MKE Bucks @ the Wahoo Warriors. This might be the best time to sneak a home win.

Buckner Bandits Season 68 Preview

Season 68 marks a fresh start for the Buckner Bandits as they enter a new league, Division IV (IV.32). The team is adjusting to the landscape, noting that the division features several active and competitive managers, setting the stage for an exciting season.

Reflecting on Last Season

The Bandits wrapped up Season 67 with a respectable 4th place finish in their previous division, though they fell in the first round of the playoffs. This year, the competition appears just as tough, and early predictions suggest the Bandits will once again have to fight hard to secure a playoff spot.

Roster and Training Updates

One of the most significant changes this season is the focus on youth development. After successful guard training, Mick Hunt and Kevin Moore are primed to play pivotal roles. The coaching staff is determined to make up for lost training time from a few seasons ago when life got in the way.

The Bandits’ first pick in the draft, Greyson Tobin, has generated considerable excitement. Although he wasn’t the initial top choice, Tobin’s Hall of Fame potential makes him a valuable addition. Known for his inside skills and impressive passing, Tobin could quickly become a fan favorite.

Also joining the team is Sidney McCann, an 18-year-old, 7-foot project player. Though raw, his All-Star potential warrants significant development time, and the Bandits are committed to getting him on the court as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Steve Davis, a 6'3" guard, was initially placed on the transfer list but found no suitors. With reliable depth already in place thanks to Eluterio Aillon, Davis may find himself cut from the roster.

Financial Outlook and Future Plans

Financially, the Bandits are stable and looking to expand the arena. One question looming is the future of their youth trainer, contingent on McCann’s progress this season. The team hopes to maintain stability within Division IV and build a strong foundation for the future.

Final Thoughts

As Season 68 unfolds, the Buckner Bandits aim to compete in a challenging division while nurturing young talent. Fans can look forward to seeing how the rookies develop and whether the team can break through the competition. Here’s to a healthy and successful season!

Vatican Vipers Season 68 Preview

Unsure of plan, still considering, going homegrown, but with potentially, only get 1 player a season to build with. It may take a while. This will give me time to phase out my other trainees, I've grown attached to.

I may also do some arena building.

Season 67 Review

Vatican Vipers got lucky with a few of the stronger teams, botting at the right time. Made it to the Divisional Finals, where we upset. Donald Coupez, managed to finish 5th in MVP voting.

Drafted Allan Glacken. Maybe the whitest name on the planet.

Roster and Training Updates

Added Allan Glacken via draft, he was a 3rd ranked draft pick, which we got with the 14th selection.

Training this season, we will focus more on home grown players, and less on the signees.

Financial Outlook

4/5/2025 Total Vatican Vipers cash reserves: $ 423 333
Available cash after bids: $ 423 333

Baseline Weekly Economy
Expenses Revenue
Player Salaries: $ 177 500 Attendance: $ 165 318
Staff Salaries: $ 21 510 Merchandise: $ 26 777

Infrastructure: $ 20 000
Total: $ 239 010 Total: $ 270 135
Typical Weekly Net Income: $ 31 125

Final Thoughts

I've heard taht if you spend more then $500K at a time building your arena you get a merchandise bonus. The same with spending a million or more at a time. From what I've discovered. If its true, it isn't much. So I'm wondering if there is really a benefit to doing a complete homegrown team?

For those that don't know this is my 3rd run on Buzzerbeaters. I managed oo Pwnstarz oo (31000)
and Sophy's Slammers, though I can't find them. Odd.

Buckner Bandits Rally in Second Half to Top Vatican Vipers 106–93
Costello’s Return Sparks Strong Performance; Hunt Leads with 21 Points

April 5, 2025 – D. Weedman Gym, Buckner, KY — The Buckner Bandits put together a dominant second-half performance to defeat the Vatican Vipers 106–93 in front of 8,618 energized fans. Led by star shooting guard Mick Hunt and the returning forward J. Costello, the Bandits outscored the Vipers 55–38 after halftime, marking their most cohesive and balanced outing of the season.

Mick Hunt was electric with 21 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds. Kevin Moore ran the offense with calm precision, tallying 19 points and 11 assists in a double-double effort. William Moore, relentless on the boards, pulled down 11 rebounds to go with his 18 points, while G. Patterson added 12 rebounds and helped anchor the paint.

Despite the loss, the Vatican Vipers showed plenty of firepower of their own. J. Winn led all scorers with 27 points, hitting five three-pointers and pulling down 8 rebounds. R. Kordel was a force in the paint with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while D. Coupez matched his intensity on the wing with 19 points and 6 free throws made. K. Krakowiecki battled down low for 8 points and 8 boards, providing toughness and second-chance opportunities.

The Vipers came out hot, taking a 55–51 lead into halftime. But their offense cooled in the final quarter, scoring just 16 points against an increasingly aggressive Buckner defense. The Bandits’ bench contributed timely minutes, with E. Aillón, T. Lawler, and P. Polo combining for 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in relief.

But the biggest lift came from J. Costello of the Buckner Bandits, who returned to the starting lineup after being regulated to the bench for the last few seasons. Costello contributed 23 points on an efficient 10-for-17 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers, and was a steady two-way presence throughout the night.

After the game, Mick Hunt spoke glowingly about his teammate’s return:

“Having Costello back out there was everything tonight,” Hunt said with a grin. “He brings a spark — the kind that doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet, but you feel it on the court. We’ve built something special with this group, and it just feels right having him beside me in that starting five again.”

The Bandits played with composure, limiting turnovers to just seven and sharing the ball beautifully with 33 assists. They overcame a slow start, trailing by four at halftime, but surged ahead with a 28-point third quarter and slammed the door shut in the fourth with a 27–16 run.

The unexpected win opens The Bandits season with a win. Owner/Coach Lit had this to say, "Even though the playoffs are a long way away, that is our goal, reach the playoffs, then anything can happen. We were not really expecting to get this win, the Vipers are a GREAT team, we were lucky we were playing at home for sure."

Fans are starting to believe in something bigger brewing in Buckner.

Up next for the Bandits are the MKE Bucks who currently sit ranked 365 in the nation... Its going to be tough to start 2-0

14 points! how dare you Double R haha. You are as bad as the fans who only gave me 63% attendance for such a great game. I take that loss as a win. I know it was a home game but losing by 3 with less effort feels fine to me! Look forward to the active group and happy to chat it up as well. I'll give my shot at my season preview when i get a chance.

Wahoo Warriors Season 68 Preview

I hope to not promote and chill with y'all for a season or 2! I like active leagues and it makes the game way more fun.

Reflecting on Last Season

Last season I was in https://buzzerbeater.com/league/18/overview.aspx?Season=67 III.13 and got whooped. I was expecting that for the most part so I just focused on trainees and tried to bank some cash and invest in infrastructure. I did try to snag a 100k player to see how close i was to competing. Needless to say I sold him real fast and executed the tank shortly after.

Roster and Training Updates

Still adjusting to the new trainee style w 19yr old buffs and all that. Currently I've been going with a more fun but less competitive approach and training 6 players at a time. After focusing on PF/C for the start of my buzzer career I have shifted to focusing on PG/SG trainees with the new game engine updates.

I have a really exciting trainee in Mr. Teddy Temple. We successfully Tanked for Temple last season and I look forward to seeing how swole he can get (while training 5 other players alongside him haha).

Financial Outlook and Future Plans

I already have to find some places to cut costs. I should be fine for this season but will have some really tough decisions to make next season as my trainees keep ballooning in cost. But generally speaking, I'm focusing on infrastructure investments as much as possible while training an army of youths.

Final Thoughts

Honestly not in a rush to promote back to Div 3. Would love a bit more time to max out my infrastructure before making a bigger push to higher leagues. It feels like it takes a lot of momentum and luck and min-maxing to get past Div 3 in most cases. That being said, I look to be competitive and if I can snag another promotion I will go for it because the economic boost from higher leagues is really nice as I was raking in 100k/week last season while tanking and focusing on trainees.
