speaking of the playoffs, i kind of want to do a little preview:
Big 8
BucsBlue Lob City vs Warhawks
During the regular season, BucsBlue mostly dominated this matchup, winning both games by a combined pd of 24. Oddly enough, BucsBlue beat them by 12 both times. To add insult to injury, in both games, Warhawks played harder than BucsBlue. Look for Lob City to take it easy again in the first round. This is by far the easiest quarterfinal to call. I'll put a line of BucsBlue -12. It would be more if I thought BucsBlue would use his full force.
Baker Street Irregulars vs Snake River Panthers
Should be a good game. We got a little preview in the final week of the season, but neither team gave it their all. Nevertheless, Snake River gave Baker Street a pretty good beating, winning by 18. In the playoffs, however, the Irregulars will have home court advantage. I think on a neutral floor, Snake River wins, but much closer when Baker is at home. Also, let us not forget the spanking Baker gave the Panthers earlier this season. I'll put a line of... Baker -1.5.
Great 8
CRF Flamengo vs Frosty BC
Flamengo owned me the last few times, and has over the past 2 years, but both times, I all but gave him the game, taking it easy and playing my backups, in anticipation of a playoff matchup against them. It happened earlier than I'd hoped, but here it is. Flamengo has been (imo) one of the 2 best teams all season. Meanwhile, Frosty really faltered toward the end of the season. The Great 8 is tough, what can I say? I'm going to give Flamengo a line of -6.5. Good luck Cometahalley.
Philadelphia Phantasm vs nyc warhawks
This is going to be the most interesting round 1 game, imo. Philly will have homecourt, but nyc has the better pd, both overall in league play, and in head to head. It's no secret that Philly boasts a stellar perimeter game. Meanwhile, nyc has a pair of dominant bigs in Pina and Luna (great names for a duo btw). In Philly, Fischer leads the charge, averaging a whopping 15.1 rating, and an incredible 29.7 ppg, good for 2nd in the league in scoring behind the one and only Rodolfo Martinazzi of Lambda. Both benches are talented and fairly deep. This one is too close to call. If it were in nyc, I'd go with the warhawks, but as it stands, I'll set the line as a pick'em.
let us not forget:
Relegation Series
West Side Tigers vs Grand Ma Mas
I'll keep this short. I fully expect West Side to dominate this series. I think, the only way it goes 3 games is if West Side chooses it to go 3 games. I'll put every game at a line of West Side -35.5.
Strong arm of the law vs North Carolina Tar Heels
Tough series to call. Strong arm is an interior-based team. Arguably their best player has been injured, however, and is way out of shape. He won't be much help, at least in game 1. Meanwhile, North Carolina is mostly a perimeter based team. All of their players are healthy. Neither team has great game shape, but mostly because of Dybcio's porous game shape in particular, I just can't give Strong Arm the edge in game 1. North Carolina has the more balanced, and more complete lineup, and the deeper bench. I'll put the game 1 line at North Carolina -7.5.
