NBBA Season 69 – Day 22 Recap (Saturday, September 27, 2025)
by Buzz Beat Daily

Splash Gang Outlasts Knights in Double OT Thriller, Clinch Playoff Spot
The Splash Gang closed out the regular season in dramatic fashion, edging the Kings Knights 135–127 in double overtime. The Knights refused to go down without a fight at home, but Norbert Ament’s 46 points and Paul Wilkinson’s 27 rebounds were too much to withstand. The victory not only gave Splash a rare road win but also punched their ticket to the playoffs, keeping their championship hopes alive.

Stark Contrast Secure #1 in Big 8
Stark Contrast wrapped up the regular season at 18–4 with a 97–78 home win over the LA Lions. The victory locks them in as the top seed in the league and secures home-court advantage for the playoffs, a huge edge as Stark looks to return to the Finals.

ETBU Crush Fury in Rout
The ETBU Tigers demolished Resurrected Fury 116–41. Kangshan swatted 6 shots, the defense suffocated, and ETBU made a statement as one of the Big 8’s most dangerous contenders entering the playoffs.

10inch Vertical Embarrasses HumanFund
It was a demolition job as 10inch Vertical rolled to a 175–28 road win over HumanFund. Fontanete’s 17 assists, Mormile’s 28-point/20-rebound double-double, and all-around dominance highlighted the blowout. 10in look every bit the contender heading into postseason play.

Cavaliers Cap Off Historic Week with Road Win
The Virginia Cavaliers ended their storybook regular season with an 88–78 road victory over Flashover. Fresh off winning the USA Cup Championship earlier this week, Virginia carried the momentum into league play and closed strong. Congratulations to the Cavaliers on capturing their first-ever Cup title and completing one of the most memorable weeks in franchise history.

Silverbacks Clamp Dogs on the Road
The Silverbacks finished strong, beating Beware of Dogs 98–63 away. Their trademark defense and interior presence gave them full control, sending the Silverbacks into the playoffs with momentum.

Mill City Thunder Crush Imperials
The Mill City Thunder tuned up for the playoffs with a 125–46 blowout over the Mos Eisley Imperials. Bajrektarević’s 32 points headlined the easy home win as Mill City set their sights on defending the title.

TarTeam Wins at Visionaries
TarTeam closed the season with a 99–85 road win over the Visionaries. With balanced scoring and sharp execution, TarTeam heads into the postseason firmly positioned as a Great 8 contender.

Final Word
Day 22 capped off a legendary Season 69. Splash, Silverbacks, Cavaliers, and 10inch Vertical all secured valuable last road wins of the season, with Splash’s double-OT triumph not only being the game of the night but also their ticket into the playoffs. Stark Contrast secured the #1 seed in the league with home-court advantage for playoffs, while the Virginia Cavaliers added extra shine by celebrating a USA Cup championship earlier in the week. With contenders firing on all cylinders and no major injuries on the horizon, the table is set for what should be a dramatic and unforgettable NBBA playoff run.

And 3 of us went PON, managing to avoid the dreaded PON upset as a home team.

3 of the 9 voters who predicted "Other" in my playoff prediction pool are already proven wrong! I'm not sure if they were over-confident playoff teams voting for themselves or what. Regardless, the league heavily favors Stark Contrast to take home the banner. They have home court throughout the playoffs but run up against the highest salary team (ETBU) in the semifinals.

We should have a good semifinal matchup to Tar Team. I beat you in the Cup quarterfinals but then you beat me on my home floor a couple weeks ago to secure the #1 seed. I'm hoping that game doesn't come back to bite me given I now have to win on the road to get to the finals...

Top 3 MVP :
1- Quentin Laperche (Visionaries) 188 points
2- Lyle Feaster (ETBU Tigers) 112 points
3- Jackie Wheatley (TarTeam) 101 points

This seems quite logical when you look at the individual statistics and team rankings.

Second NBBA MVP for Laperche but he doesn't FEEL so amazing to me somehow. 18ppg that I never notice but I guess it does make him near or on the leaderboards for all the main counting stats. Wonder how much longer he'll be on my team as so many factors conspire over and over again to give me reasons to keep him around despite feeling like the salary isn't quite worth it.

Also I would hazard a guess my 13-9 finish is one of the worst W/L ever for an MVP's team.

Very entertaining reading, thanks for your effort and dedication! Belated congratulations to Wahoowa with the Tournament title! (I only lost to him by 2 points a few rounds earlier, and he beat Splash Gang by 8 in the finale, so that means, in some alternate reality, I hire the right PR guy for a neutral court, foul his big man out as we go into OT and then pull off the upset, sneak past Flashover so that I can lose to Splash Gang by like 35-40 points.) I'm relieved to be sticking around another season, but sad to see Mos Eisley go, we had a friendly cross-division race for best record last season. I almost bid against him for Fry when Humanfund put him up and I doubt he'll be in D2 for long. None of my picks made the Fnals so good luck to the guy from our side and that other team. I didn't get a pop on a guy I need to sell to make my salaries work next season, but at least I have a few weeks to figure it out before everyone is geared back up again.

edit: @Azariah, sorry about the injury to the trainee, but at least on the "bright" side I think they heal at the reset if it was going to be a longer one.
