You haven't demoted yet, don't you still have a relegation series?
While I can definitely see your point and might be making the exact same argument myself if I was in your shoes, one could also argue that if you don't finish among the top 12 teams in Naismith, perhaps those teams didn't earn the right to stay up here. The argument could work both ways depending on one's point of view.
Also, assuming that the teams replacing you from D2 will be worse could be off base (let me stress 'could' as your team is solid and we don't know exactly who will promote at this point). I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose my league with a 21-1 record to a team with a $765,000 payroll. I think my team is solid enough to win some games in Naismith right now and I still have $$$ to improve it if I choose too. While it could happen, I don't plan on being a 1 and done team next season.
