Honestly, it's a nice feeling to believe a 20-2 team will improve next season, if we can keep the gods and fate appeased with rituals and superstitions. The core players, Bourgeois, Markham, and Heard, all performed well -- gratifying that the exchange of Bourgeois for Nagle paid off (B's GR was higher than Nagle's). Even if 33 (34), Bourgeois should be a valuable bench player for those seasons after he turns 35. The team will mark a turning pointing when Heard becomes a bench player -- a C may be the next draft target? Both Muncy and Bean should hit One hundred and teens TSP, a minimum to be on an NBBA team. Huddleston, Cyr, and Girard may be adding skills to an already respectable set.
An interesting experiment will take place this post-season. i've identified a Cup squad and want to see how good they may be. Girard PG, Cano SG, Cyr SF, Huddleston PF, McHugh C, with Gaither and Marcum off the bench. i'm hoping such a squad could go into the third round, schedule permitting.
But all these planned improvements have to be defensive in nature -- the conference finals proved that. But a team that shoots 52% -- i'm not sure there is much room for improvement here -- another reason to work on D-fence.
Finances look great, making $125,000 in a good week. Merchandise is up after people got a chance to see these guys on TV. Good thing i don't have a blackout rule, as We Never Sell Out. More seriously, with luck, in two seasons we should be around $6 million.
