Last season I started with 1,806 Season Ticket Holders and finished the season with losing in the finals.

Today I am starting with no more than 1,639 Season Ticket Holders, despite having minimized the price to $5/18/50/400.
Seems like my fans are lost on the old server, desperately looking for my arena.

Any other explanation? :|

The main question to me is - what's the real added value of knowing the number of season ticket holders?

You started last season after being demoted from D2, that's the difference.

And yeah, that number is quite important and affects how much attendance you can expect at season start. Ticket prices don't affect it, rather, it affects how high you can set the ticket prices.

Marin, thanks for your quick response.

Well yes, that's the problem I'm talking about: I started S49, after being demoted, with only 1,806 ticket holders. I ended up S49 in the finals. Even today's fan survey says, pleased with the team's performance last season = 4/5.

And now, S50, I am starting with an even lower number of season ticket holders, exactly 1,639? Why???

I know you're not going to like this but here goes: when you demote your ticket holders number gets cut by 25%.

Now, for most teams, this gets them right down in the line of the average amount of the ticket holders of the lower division. However, there are outliers, like your team, who had rather high number to start with and the 25% cut still put you quite higher than the D3 average.

Now, during the season, your team performed well, but the number it tended toward to (an imaginary upper limit for D3) was still lower than the initial number you had! That's why you had a drop, your initial number of ticket holders *should* have been lower to start with.

Why is this so? Well, it is my fault. At one point (offseason S30), I decided that the drop for ticket holders for demotees is too harsh. It was set at 30% and some teams that struggled during the whole season had horrendous cuts during demotion, giving them a really low number to start the lower division with. So, a change was made knowingly that some teams, like yours (and mine, as it turns out), will have too gentle a cut. Something most of us can live with

Isn't it always your fault? XD

Allright then. I'm not happy with that, but I gotta live with it. Thanks, mate.

let's just assume your fans are disappointed because they wanted the promotion
