Hi all,

Some time ago, I needed new staff members but I couldn't work out how much to invest. There are many parameters, lot's of things to account for. Then, I tried to make a small excel worksheet to help me. It turned out quite helpfull. You can download it yourself here (http://www.midia.hr/BBStaffSalaryCalculator.xls).

You just enter the salaries of the existing staff and the staff you intend to buy and at which bonus, and it will show you how much time you need for the staff member to pay himself out.

As my english isn't perfect, the instructions in the calculator are pretty complicated and need improvement. Maybe someone can write better instructions? Also, I would like suggestions for the calculator.

so you kinda took my friends work, modified it and now use it instead of giving that advice to him after he did most of the work? you could have shared your ideas, and then he'd include you in the credits now people just take credit for his work

I added a lookup formula that will allow for the difference in staff levels. Send me a bbmail if you want it and I can email it off.

damn it Kivan, you're scaring people away!

I was looking forward to seeing which changes did Moutihno include but he removed his file from rapidshare. Thanks Kivan! We all know you were joking but your sarcasm just isn't helping sometimes...

Anyway, I'd politely like to ask Moutihno if he can post his changed calculator.

I think the calculations could be improved. I have done similar things for myself and I can tell you what I did.

There are 3 costs associated with staff:

1. signing bonus
2. total wage he has received during the holding period
3. severance fee

What we want is to minimize the average weekly cost(awc) of our staff ([1+2+3]/no. of holding weeks). I determined the awc of my existing staff (including the signing bonus, which I think this calculator is missing) and the ones available in the staff market. Actually the awc changes every week. Initially it is usually very high due to the signing bonus. Then it comes down as the signing bonus is spread across the holding period and then reach a minimum(can be determined when 1,2,3 are available). It rises again because the staff is getting better pay. After reaching this minimum I compared this minimum awc with the awc of the staff available in the market. I would only replace my staff if I can find one with lower awc (in other words I am able to bid x amount to a particular staff since awc is related to 1, while 2 and 3 are constant for this particular staff I am bidding.) If no I wait and let the awc of my staff increases (it has already reached a minimum) until it reach the point where the awc of the available staff in the market is at least equal or lower than mine.

Great! That´s exactly what we all need, to know the moment in wich a staff member has reached a salary so high that is more profitable to change him into more economic other one. I usually take a look to transfer list, but i don´t know the exactly moment to do it or what saving supposes.
Best regards
