I thought Run and Gun was an outside tactic, but here was my first quarter against a vastly inferior opponent (Bot, atrocious outside and inside defense) with me running that tactic with a small lineup of good shooters --I sat my center and played my backup shooting guard as center and my SF as PF.

Result: ONE 3pt attempt in the first quarter, and only 5 in the first half. Second half adjusted and got 19 attempts. Why would this be? Surely the tactic choice would be that the team starts with an outside focus (per my direction) and perhaps the coach adjusts inside if that's not working. Please help me understand this tactic.

Outside focus doesn't mean Golden State Warriors outside focus (Same for Motion).
Just normal outside with jump shots even inside 3pt area.
But there are also other aspects affecting how much you shoot from far. I.e. Jump range of your shooters, the higher it is, the more 3pt they attempt. If you check your viewer in 1st you only had 1 3pt but there were couple of mid range shots. From 2nd on, engine fixed it and your guys started shooting more.
But there really isn't a tactic that would completely eliminate paint shots.

Fair point on the quality of opponent argument in this case.

Is there a good resource to understand the relationship between my teams offensive skills and optimal offensive tactics? For example, ff my center has excellent JS or JR would Low Post or Run and Gun get him more 3s? Or is it Outside Isolation because his skills would be the biggest mismatch (seems Outside Isolation looks at skill not mismatch though from what I've seen)
