Q: Speaking of training guides, where are they?
A: There are actually a lot of training guides out here in the forums. We also made a guide, by the way. Here's the link to the forum post:

https://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...

Note: We plan to update the training guide later, specifically the sample build training plans. But for now, this current version should suffice.

Q: Let's get on to it. How to train?
A: First, you need to choose the training. On the BB website, it's on "Training" on the Main Menu on the left side. On the BB app, it's on the Menu Button (three lines), then "Training".

Once you're in the "Training" Menu, you will choose the training type, and the position/s where your trainee will play. Don't forget to "Update Training" afterwards!

For full training, the required weekly minutes on your chosen position/s are listed below (copied from Game Manual):
18-19 years old: 45 weekly minutes
20-26 years old: 48 weekly minutes
27+ years old: 40 weekly minutes
Note: One minute buffer is placed for all age groups, which means 44 minutes is also sufficient for 18-19 age group.

These are the games where the minutes are counted towards training:
Saturday League/Scrimmage game
Tuesday League/Cup game
Thursday Cup/Scrimmage game

Minutes in Wednesday BBM games, Pickup games and Private League games don't count.

The skills and game shapes are updated every Friday.

Q: Is there a way to simulate training and check future skill pops?
A: Yes, by using training simulators. These are the training simulators available in the forums, if you're interested.

By Ubiond: https://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...
By NBA_4_Fun: https://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...
Coach Parrot, by Joey Ka: https://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...
By Rhyminsimon: https://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...

The first two were just released before the start of Season 72. We haven't tried them yet, but we're planning to. The last two simulators are quite old, but still decent tools for training simulation.

We made one as well, which is based mostly from the formulas on Coach Parrot and Rhyminsimon, with some changes in coefficients. Here's the link to the forum post:

https://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...

Q: Do you have any criteria/s in selecting U21 players?
A: Skills are very important. We know Stamina is important too, but there's only about 3-4 seasons to spare for U21 training, so we might not have enough time to train Stamina, or even Free Throws, if you don't have Training Court. If you have the time for Stamina, that's great! If not, it's alright!

Besides Skills, another important thing is the ability to maintain decent Game Shape. "8-9 GS in most weeks, 60-80 minutes per week"... We know some managers are already fed up seeing that when we remind them about Game Shape, but that's to stress how important it is in NT games. The higher the Game Shape is, the better the player performs.

If you're having difficulties maintaining Game Shape even if the weekly minutes are in the optimal range, we recommend buying at least a level 4 Sports Psychologist. It helps maintain Game Shape even if your minutes are sub-optimal. And please don't get it wrong, having a Sports Psychologist doesn't mean the player can play outside the optimal range every week.

Hope that covers a lot of stuff regarding U21 training. In the next post, we'll be posting the target skills for U21 prospects, as a rookie and as a soon-to-be 21-year-old.

As mentioned above, the following posts are intended for everyone who wants to check if their rookie/s can be a future U21 star player. We included the recommended skills for U21 rookie prospects when they were drafted, and the target skill levels when they're about to turn 21 years old.

Try reaching or going further beyond these target skill levels when they turn 21 years old; your player will have at least a shot at a U21 roster spot.

These skill targets are subject to changes, especially with the news regarding SB salary rework. But for now, these should work. We want managers to have at least some references of what a U21 prospect, or what a U21 player looks like.

=========

Let's start with the U21 bigmen (C/PF) builds:
Recommended Height: 6'8" & above (the taller the better)

* Classic Big (C/PF): The old-school, back-to-the-basket big.
Main Skills: IS, ID, RB
Desirable Skill/s: JS (if potential permits), DR
Minimum Potential: perennial allstar (7)
Recommended Starting Skills for 18 y/o Rookie:
IS ≥ 5
ID ≥ 5
RB ≥ 5
Recommended Starting Skills for 19 y/o Rookie:
IS ≥ 8
ID ≥ 8
RB ≥ 7
Target Skills @ 21 y/o:
IS ≥ 13
ID ≥ 13
RB ≥ 11

* Princeton Big/ Tweener Forward (PF): Great bigman for outside attacks, especially for Princeton offense (hence the name).

JS ≥ 7
IS ≥ 8
ID ≥ 8
Target Skills @ 21 y/o:
JS ≥ 11

* Defensive Big 1/ Shotblocker (C): Currently a popular build in BuzzerBeater. Great defensive anchor on a 3-2 Zone. Added PA to lessen the tendency to make shot attempts.

PA ≥ 5
ID ≥ 5

ID ≥ 8
RB ≥ 8
SB ≥ 8
Target Skills @ 21 y/o:
PA ≥ 8
ID ≥ 13
RB ≥ 11
SB ≥ 15
Note:
* For allstar (6) potential, it is best to have very low IS (IS ≤ 4) to maximize training.

* Defensive Big 2 (C): Less SB for more ID and RB. Similar to above build, PA was added so he shoots less.
Main Skills: PA, ID, RB
Desirable Skill/s: OD, HA, SB
Minimum Potential: allstar (6)
Recommended Starting Skills for 18 y/o Rookie:
PA ≥ 5
ID ≥ 6
RB ≥ 6
Recommended Starting Skills for 19 y/o Rookie:
PA ≥ 6
ID ≥ 8
RB ≥ 8
Target Skills @ 21 y/o:
