I am interested in any idea(federetion etc)

Some time ago I was thinking about asking you about HGL league for utopia teams.
After few seasons with 1or2or3 nonHG players(bigs) I went fully HG for second team. I even had some chances in last weeks for divII but now its gone (22-0 was possible).
My utopia team was biult another way around than first team(I had nice guards first and now I am finishing bigs, playing 3-2 with some blocking).
However utopia team is not so refined(has some flaws) as first team.

The only thing which might keep me out of HGL is purchasing some beast or two and try to promote (div I).
But I guess it's impossible , top16 in Poland is another level, salaries 800k-1200k

I am little curious about finances in yours HG teams, wondering if I am maximizing income

While we eagerly wait for the culmination of this HGL season I wanted to take the time and point out that a year ago today, the first ever Matchday of the HGL in BB took place. As competing in the HGL has enriched my BB experience a lot, I wanted to thank all managers that have been part of this amazing project, and especially Wagner, who keeps this league going. I hope that the HGL will remain part of BB for long-term. Now, good luck to the managers fighting for the gold and bronze medals of HGL S4. (BB)

Thank you for pointing this out, LennuK. - a something worth celebration. :)

It's great to hear you've experienced HGL in such a positive manner, and you've most certainly been a very positive addition to our roster of committed HGL managers!

@all HGL managers, past and current:
As we celebrate one calendar year worth of HGL journey, I also want to take an opportunity to thank all managers that have taken this journey together - it's been a joy to travel this journey. Such an "all-manual league" is always as strong or as weak as it's participants (and thrives of falls based on that), so let's keep our standards and commitment level high in future as well, in order to keep HGL thriving! :)

I'd also like to revisit my idea of organizing HGL meet at some point. (Should first meet take place in Finland, I'd strongly suggest summer or autumn instead of winter).

I do fully realize all the difficulties/challenges that it does have, and I also understand it might not be for all, and certainly not all of us (or realistically, not even most of us) would be able to enter any given HGL meet.

However, I'm old school in that way that for me meeting people face to face is always the best thing there is, and meeting like minded people who share the same interest can hardly be a bad thing, can it? It would obviously be interesting to know people behind their manager names more thoroughly, to the extent they are willing to share information (and I believe it would remove a big threshold talking face to face, vs. writing such information to these threads).

So that's why I haven't given up this idea, even though last time I presented it, not all that many managers even commented anything about it.

So, if any you have any thoughts on potential HGL meet, all of you may just as well open your chest of words. :)

Secondly, I would also like to echo what LennuK has said and sincerely thank Wagner for the ridiculous amount of time and effort he puts into this league. When we first created this league, and the concept of a commissioner was floated and agreed upon, I was apprehensive about you having such control (and power) initially (I am a democratic-minded person) but I have seen the light. Noone could have done what you have done and remained the glue that has kept this HGL together. It would be very easy for such a league to wane with time if the organiser(s) waned in enthusiasm and commitment. You have been like a rock. Even recently, while navigating your own bankruptcy dilemma, your focus on the HGL never faltered. That is commitment. Thank you, Wagner.

Finally, I reflect on my BB experience since Season 14 and can say with honesty that the HGL has been the most enjoyable endeavor thus far. While I am personally annoyed with myself for not competing in Season 2 of the HGL, I can see now that I will stay in the HGL indefinitely. It is always natural for someone to be drawn to like-minded people, but the HGL offers HG teams both competition and community. I am here to stay.

Thank you for the experience thus far and for those to come.

Thank you very much for your kind words MrJ, I appreciate it.

I'm glad to see some have apparently seen my enthusiasm towards HGL, and while it's true that navigating with IRL time/focus restrictions and HGL at the same time can at times present some challenges, my strong intention is to keep on putting/giving my all to HGL - 'leaving everything on court' so to speak, as is saying used when describing team/player effort level in a given match/tournament.

The community aspect you brought up is definitely one of the most interesting and strong points of HGL. While I can't or shouldn't make any demands on that regard (apart from official HGL communication about HGL issues/organizing, which will always be mandatory for managers to some extent), I would encourage everyone to participate into conversations (or start their own topics they'd wish to talk about) on HGL threads.

At least for me it's always interesting to read opinions/writings of others, and while I can sometimes come off as somewhat direct in my communication (especially if I don't have loads of time to answer at that given moment), I have respect towards everybody's opinion and do not ever intend to come off as rude. (Please note, that in Finnish language AFAIK we don't for instance have one word direct translation for word "please" that could be used interchangeably in all situations, so maybe that describes well enough how direct we Finns often are in our communication, and intention of that is not to come off as forthright/rude, but it's more or less 'built into' our culture/communication).

Even if some suggestions wouldn't see the light of day/wouldn't be implemented (at least right away), I do not forget such propositions/opinions, and usually store them in my long term memory so to speak, so that I'd get a better grasp of what people have commented on/what people have preferred over the years.

So that's another way to say, that everyones' messages will always be read through and given consideration and thought, so no messages are "gone to waste" even if they wouldn't produce immediate change on some given matter.

Love the idea!

Although logistically, it isn't possible for me, perhaps those of us that are close enough to one another to actually meet, could possibly do so at some stage in the future...

Thanks for your response... :)

If you ever travel to Europe for business or pleasure, let us know if you have any room in your schedule, and we can see if it would be in any way possible to arrange such HGL meet within that time frame.

Same goes with our another manager at the other side of the world, Chucarro (TRO). For you guys it's probably so rare and/or hard to arrange any trips to Europe, that we could then try to make even a bit of an extra effort in trying to organize something in Europe while you guys are here.

HGL Season 4 Medals have now started to being delivered to deserved players and managers, and home teams once again ruled, so "just another day at the office" so to speak!

Congratulations to Virtus Portici (VPO; manager SventraCanestri) for winning Gold medal once again, to Rajdersi (RAJ; manager Paul George) for Silver medals, and also to KK Stihija (KKS; manager Pihija) for Bronze medals!

Both of the Medal matches had one similarity at least: home team was dominant on 1st quarter, and then rest of the match was more even, but that wasn't good enough for away teams, in terms of being able to fight for a win:

In VPO vs. RAJ:
1st quarter ||||| rest of the game (quarters 2-4)
VPO +12 ||||| VPO +2

In KKS vs. LMS:
1st quarter ||||| rest of the game (quarters 2-4)
KKS +16 ||||| KKS +7

In final, RAJ was able to restrict the number 1 three point shooting team (in success-%), VPO, to only 10% success (1/10).
However, due to big rebounding night by VPO's Frosini and Favaro, who grabbed almost 70% of VPO's rebounds - 34 rebounds in total (Rajdersi's whole team 37 rebounds in total!) - RAJ had hard time really making this game a nail biter, after VPO started the match in such a strong manner. This 12 rebounds advantage to VPO certainly helped them in today's match. Frosini also blocked 7 shots (VPO in total 10), while RAJ's whole team achieved total of 5 blocks in the Final match.

In Bronze match, free throws were attempted no less than 57 times, and as both teams were sinking combined 54 of those shots, this match wasn't at least decided by failed free throws.
KKS's fantastic assist to turnover-ratio (5 to 1, vs. LMS's 1,5 to 1) in this match benefited KKS, and 35 of their 46 field goals were assisted ones (vs. LMS's 18 out of 39).
KKS's defense were able to post a bit more impressive numbers (steals 8 to 4, blocks 7 to 2) than LMS's defense, and the final nail to the coffin so to speak was that LMS's 3p shooting % was about 6% below their HGL Regular Season 4 average, while KKS was able to shoot threes at 46,7%, so about 10% above their HGL Regular Season 4 average.

I made some transfer checks on end of Season 3 (off-season, starting from 11th of January) and during Season 4 (starting of January 26th, 2026), and unfortunately I once again noticed some unannounced transfers by several teams.

So @all:
Always remember to inform me of your trades, or if you fire your player(s) - it's necessary nowadays.
Please inform me of trades/firings, even if player is not one of your Top8-salary earners.

Total of unannounced transfers since last check, January 11th:

- VPO 6 transfers (2 on Season 3 and 4 or Season 4)
- KKS 2 transfers (on Season 3)
- TRO 1 transfer (on S3)
- ALA 1 uninformed transfer (on S4)

In addition to that, my 21 fired players (all outside of my top8 salary envelope, though) are still "unspecified" and only total amount and combined $-wage is mentioned in transfers-post, but I will provide the full list of names, ages and salaries, if anyone feels it's best/necessary to do so (if you do, please let me know; as mentioned, I have so far prioritized much more important tasks).

Please accept my apology if you have informed of these transfers and you're on the above list; in that case it's my bad as I haven't been able to update transfer post in real time.

I'm glad none of these transfers since January 11, 2026 haven't been "HGL ineligible transfers", so in that sense it's all good and no penalties will be dealt to teams.

However, I don't like it at all that "no penalty threat causes no action", as I'd want to keep updating transfers- and salary benefit posts without having to rely on manual checks. This would be made possible with everyone complying with the announcement-practice when trading/firing players.

Player transfers (selling, buying) probably can't be informed during player is on sale (your message will be banned by BB Staff, as it's thought to be a player advertisement), but it's possible to send such message right after player sales has taken place. Or sending me BBMail is always (also during player is on sale) possible too.

With these roster checks, combined Season 2&3 transfers-post is now complete and final, found from here:
(328546.14).

As for Season 4 transfers post, I have now also updated that one, based on my afore mentioned findings. Season 4 transfers-post can be found from here, as you all know: (329501.5).

Like has been the tradition, I've again created a thorough team salary benefits and transfers-post for HGL Season 4, which can be found from here: (329501.4).

As for someone who might be TLDR-type of person, here's a quicker recap of it though:

Teams receiving salary benefit on HGL Season 4, in the order of teams benefiting most:

Note:'Plus' means that team has gained salary advantage by purchasing back own previous players, 'minus' means they do not benefit from such purchases currently.

1. Virtus Portici: total salary benefit plus $270722 during Season 4 (team top8 salaries: $460K)
21 players/Purchased players (own draftees): 11
(52,4% of all players; re-purchased players take up 58,9% of VPO's total top8 salaries)

2. Lielupes Melnas Sirdis: total plus $107612 during Season 4 (team top8 salaries: $526K)
12 players/Purchased players (own draftees): 1
(8,3% of all players; re-purchased player take up 21,7% of LMS's total top8 salaries)

3. BC Eos: total benefit plus $43524 during Season 4 (team top8 salaries: $432K)
11 players/Purchased players (own draftees): 1
(9,1% of all players; re-purchased players take up 11,5% of EOS's total top8 salaries)

4. Homegrown Kings: total benefit plus $39164 during Season 4 (team top8: $174K)
14 players/Purchased players (own draftees): 1
(7,1% of all players; re-purchased players take up 24,2% of HGK's total top8 salaries)

5. Rajdersi: total salary benefit plus $269 during Season 4 (team top8 salaries: $447K)
12 players/Purchased players (own draftees): 1
(8,3% of all players; re-purchased player take up 3,7% of RAJ's total top8 salaries)

6. Wagner College: total salary benefit minus $6520 during Season 4
77 players/Purchased players (own draftees): 1
(1,3% of all players; re-purchased players take up 0,07% of WAG's total top8 salaries, however, repurchased player is not among top8 salary earners)

7. Elan Demars: total salary benefit minus $115999 during Season 4
18 players/Purchased players (own draftees): 1
(5,6% of all players; re-purchased players take up 0,07% of ED's total top8 salaries, however, repurchased player is not among top8 salary earners)

If teams name (which is currently playing in HGL) is unavailable in the list above, that mean team hasn't got any re-purchased own draftees in their current roster (or has not ever purchased players - there are some teams like that as well in HGL).

Please remember: if you buy players (HGL eligible players only, of course), it is your duty to inform HGL Commissioner of such purchases so that posts about HGL rosters and trades/purchases can be updated in the future as well!
