Firstly, I would like to say that your responses to my questions were professional and with respect and, as such, demand mine. This is why you are the Commissioner, Wagner. You are able to balance the myriad of intricacies required for your position as Commissioner.

Secondly, and as a result of your excellent responses, I would like to apologise. I could have done this via bbmail, but it deserves to be said in front of our peers.

And, although I was asking the questions rather than accusing you outright, I did walk that fine line between the two.

My respect for you has only increased.

Finally, yes, you and I may always have disagreements, however, as we have said often, it doesn't change our friendship. Well, it hasn't from my end and I hope it doesn't from yours.

As for the HGL-PL...

...let's see how it plays out.

Thank you for your considerate message and kind words, MrJ.
I can always learn for example condensing things/writings from you, and as there's not much more that'd need to be said (in addition to what you already mentioned in your reply), I'll keep it short this time. (Who guessed I even could produce this short messages?;)

LOL We all learn, Wagner. Time is the only variable.

On another note, I am working hard on building the HGL League Office with AI. If I don't respond to any emails, please know that I am trying to finish Season 1 tonight. The Finished product, Wagner, is going to be pretty cool...

The HGL League Office
"The HGL League Office exists to preserve the history of the league, celebrate excellence, and provide an accurate, impartial record of every season, every team, and every player."

Sounds cool, I'm looking forward to seeing "the end product".

However, as I'm sure we all want to keep the data 100% accurate, I'd perhaps suggest you to create some certain "checkpoints" in your projects, in terms of being able to ensure data accuracy. I have found this to be very necessary thing to do with AI.

I mention this as I've had my difficulties with AI.
It does seemingly irrational and unbelievable errors at times (and does have certain odd restrictions, such as not remembering some older messages/writings/numbers from the exact same conversation), even when it's adviced it should avoid exactly those errors (after making such error first time).

So if you for instance create some rules that you use to check out if AI could've messed up with some statistics, I guess they could then be considered more trustworthy.

Some of the AI content I've tried to create for fun (practically not with HGL content at all; I've only calculated maybe 3 teams' top8-salaries with it, but others manually), as far as basketball statistics goes, have been interesting and helpful, but I don't seem to be able to get over those silly mistakes AI has continued to make over the course of the year or so when I've been playing around with it.

And when it comes to stats, 1 entry is all it takes to ruin everything (and in many cases AI makes a lot more critical mistakes than just excluding, say, 1 line or category of stats), like we saw from my mistake with missing 1 RS Round worth of team statistics (ED) last Season.

@ED, VDT, LMS: Thanks for the new link VDT and ED - demars (ED) please remember to add that match link to your own teams box score post as well!

@all HGL managers:
Fill scores to your Season 5 own box score posts, if you still haven't done so!

***********

HB has been sent a reminder already earlier to quickly accept an invitation from EOS.

We are looking at a quite late acceptance (of a PU match) anyway, even if HB would login now and accept match challenge.

@EOS /LA-LennuK.: Are you willing to wait for him to accept challenge and accept less time for setting up lineups (other than standard lineups) for the match? Or shall we soon make this (I believe) first ever case by judging this match a forfeit loss to HB due to not accepting match in time (already before match deadline has passed - of course there has been forfeit in HGL due to not accepting match at all)?

This is a difficult situation all around, as we have discussed (/as I've wrote) in lengthy manner earlier, including just a moment ago.
You have tendency to login quite often, but what then especially if this occurs with manager that doesn't login so often? (And for the sake of fairness, we can't "demand" you to always react quickly either, due to someone else not fulfilling their duties in time, so this is also why you have an equal right to not show that much of a good will here if you so choose to - if that's the case though, please let me know)...

Current update on HGL-PL participation-situation:

I'll add this information also on Scores-thread, so that everyone interested might spot it.

Currently 4 teams have announced their interest to participate to first ever HGL-PL:
Tassie Devils: (38697) (Top8-salaries $174K)
San Fernando VR: (77070) (Top8-salaries $111K without HGL-ineligible player)
M.L.S. REICH: (39615) (Top8-salaries $157K)
borteam: (46607) (Top8-salaries $108K).

As we can see, salary wise they're not mostly miles apart, so it's going to be interesting to see how games will play out!

Still 3 recently contacted teams haven't replied. It hasn't been determined how long I'll wait before roster will be locked, but at least a small while - as I mentioned elsewhere, M.L.S. REICH is also reviewing HGL posts currently (or at least I hope he is) to see if he'd enjoy playing in HGL eventually (which initial willingness is a prerequisite of participating to HGL-PL, as we know).

First Round of Playoffs on Season 5 did provide some drama, in form of a forfeit loss/win, and a nailbiter between two French sides. As for other matches, teams ranked 6th and 7th, LMS and ED, were able to cruise to home wins in rather comfortable manner.

WMO-LGM:
I watched last moments of WMO vs. LGM match, and as we've come to expect, that matchup is almost guaranteed to provide an interesting and even match - this time was no exception, despite WMO having a home court advantage this time. (LGM's fans didn't have too long of a bus trip though, as both are French teams).

If you're short of time, even watching last 20 seconds or so via match viewer provides interesting moments (and already that takes surprisingly long). But long story short: LGM did an excellent job of nailing threes to narrow the gap, getting to 110-111 situation. However, WMO was nailing down each and every free throw from the charity stripe on those last minutes, so that sealed the deal for WMO - in match they were 30 of 31 from the line. LGM's Thony "la TĂȘte" Lefebvre, who is normally a very good 3p shooter (38,9% in "regular BB league" on this season) actually had an equalizing buzzerbeater in the air, but that didn't sink in this time.

LGM won rebounds by 10 and were able to score 36 points behind the 3 point arc as opposed to 9 by WMO, but were unable to produce a single steal in a whole match and turning the ball over 10 times (when WMO had better numbers: 5 steals and only 6 turnovers).

Here are the Second Round Playoff-matches:

PO Round 2 (quarter-finals; 8 teams play): Sunday, July 5th, 2026
Rank #1 VPO vs. #8 WMO *Waiting for match link!
Rank #2 RAJ vs. #7 ED *Waiting for match link!
Rank #3 KKS vs. #6 LMS *Waiting for match link!
Rank #4 VIV vs. #5 EOS *Waiting for match link!

PS. If you ever spot any errors in my messages, please let me know. While I do all I can to avoid them, it is unavoidable in a long run that they can exist to some extent. And especially in the case of matchups etc., it's critical to correct it before "damage is done".
