I will explain it as simply as possible.
No one here was talking about you or Turkey. Period.
It was about another foreign candidate. There aren’t many options for who it could be about. To be precise, my colleague wrote that he hopes he won’t win, that’s all. To elaborate, it would be better if someone from 'our side won' [i.e. a Pole], that’s all. If that’s racism, then we might as well remove flags altogether in this stupid game.
As for Turkey, to the best of my knowledge, no one on this forum has ever spoken disrespectfully about your country or its people. Moreover, I believe there is a great deal of sympathy for Turkey in Poland. The fact that so many people travel to your country for holidays, and that we have so many restaurants serving your cuisine which are very popular, speaks for itself.
I was only citing the ruling of Pre-Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court dated 21 November 2024. When Putin invaded Ukraine, there was even a thread on the global forum, so are we supposed to stay silent here?
Besides, there is no need to resort to politically correct slogans here. Nationalism is a positive force, in contrast to chauvinism. The distinction between ‘ordinary’ nationalism and chauvinism can be most clearly illustrated through the analogy of family relations. Ordinary nationalism may be likened to the attitude of a father who believes he should first care for his own children and only thereafter for others. Chauvinism, by contrast, would be if that same father, in an effort to secure a better future for his own children, were to harm other people’s children.
If there is anyone in Turkey who does not hold us in high regard, they are welcome to take part in elections — and we could, at the very least, discuss it in a more constructive and pleasant atmosphere.
