The Philippines break into the top 10!

The Philippines had to face Japan this week. A couple of players were unable to make the trip due to their game shape; however, they still had to step up. The Philippines called up Jasher Tañedo to fill the gap and finished his first competitive game for the National Team coming off the bench. The star of this game was Atoy Fulgencio. The Philippines made him the target of the ball, and he finished the game with 41 points, shooting 18-for-25 from the field, and grabbed 10 boards to complete a double-double. Laguna Buko Mixers' Dave Lemoncito flirted with a triple-double with 6 points, 9 boards, and 9 assists. Benson Villarivera and Joven Siena completed the Philippine National Team's offensive scheme, scoring 25 and 19 points, respectively.

The Japanese National Team made it close in the start, Jotaro Koma led his team and dropped 28 points in this battle. Toshihiro Ikoma, on the other hand, played only 11 minutes but also scored 11 points to help his own team. However, the Philippines showed they are contenders this season and won 106-89.

In great news, the Philippines finally broke into the top 10 in the world, the first time since season 46. The current manager will not take credit for this, as it is the result of the previous administration's success. The Philippine National Team would love to thank Coach Mad-Rad for his efforts.

Great Wall Defense: China Locks Down PH in Hardcourt Clash

The Philippines had to face China in this week's battle. It's been seasons since the Philippine National Team last beat the China National Team, and today's game is no exception. The Philippines managed to out-rebound China 58 to 42; however, rebounds are not the sole factor of winning in this game. Raul Remaneses seems like the only player who came out to play today. He managed 21 points and 11 rebounds, with 9 of those rebounds coming on the offensive end. Joven Siena tried to help with the offensive load, but he only finished with 14 points. Two new players have joined the national team: Nilo Caniga and Scott Menchavez, both of whom played off the bench.

The Chinese defense was suffocating this game. The Philippines only managed to hit 31% of their shots in this game and 0% from 3-point range. Huang Chengliang was the main anchor of their defense. China played a 1-3-1 zone, and Chengliang was their rim protector. Even though he had only 6 blocks and 7 rebounds, his effectiveness isn't reflected in the box score. The Philippines had a difficult time beating him. The offensive pairing of Leng Zibo and Luan Shixiong placed this game out of reach for the Philippines. They scored 44 out of the 83 points of the opposing squad.

The Philippines fell to China 70-83. Next week, we play Iran.
