New league tables have seen the light of day... Oh, it's 2.30AM, so no, not really - but you got the point.
Very interesting matches again, especially:
WAG-HB 108-115:
The local competition was drawn before 4th, and then HB pressed pedal to the metal and I was left wondering how strange it feels to start Season at 0-5. Not massive differences other than HB's 10 extra rebounds, but my Linkova fouling out after spending 38 minutes on court didn't help my chances. (To be fair though, HB's leading scorer fouled out as well).
VPO-EOS 105-92:
"Do. Not. Hack. Di Natale - or anyone else from VPO, for that matter!" was heard from the sidelines, as VPO's A. Di Natale was perfect from the line (15/15) - however, rest of the team didn't fall short either, as they shot 22 of 22.
This wasn't the decisive difference in the sense that EOS also scored clinically 18/19 from the charity stripe - but it's still terribly difficult to operate with "hack the Shaq"-strategy, if you've fell behind to begin with, if opponent automatically gets 2 points every time you foul them.
Interesting take? EOS dominated rebounds 61-41, but turned the ball over 16 times (VPO 5), so there went the advantage gained in boards.
MAD-BCR 99-98:
A proper nail biter here - BCR led by 5 before 4th quarter, but very strong performance by MAD gave them a sweet victory over challenging BCR squad. Points behind 3 point arc: MAD 36, BCR 6. BCR totally dominated on boards (59-38), but it simply wasn't enough to win our only Spanish representative in HGL.
LGM-HGK 115-101:
HGK is starting to find a gear, where it can properly challenge mid-class teams, so lots of progress has taken place during couple of seasons. This time also the difference was only 4 points (to LGM's advantage) before 4th quarter, but then the French side beat Australians by 10 during the last 12 minutes of the game.
As for clinical free throw shooting, N. Grévin's (LGM) performance leaves no one cold - 19 out of 19 from the charity stripe. I can'r recall ever seeing more clinical FT performance by any sinble player in BB... (I might have, but honestly can't remember at least). Also their P. Ferréol dished out RS Round 5 high 15 assists - this wasn't HGL record, but "not too bad" either!
