Fresh league tables available on both Official Threads.

While Round 3 didn't offer true nailbiter-matches - actually only match that ended up with less than 10 point difference was my match against Madrid Chotis - still some relatively even matches were being played. 3 other matches to be more precise, if we consider the theoretical limit for 'at least relatively even' being 15 points.

Besides of losses, some notable scores were:
-RAJ was able to put up a good challenge against strong VPO squad, handing them the smallest victory margin of the young season.
- HGK was handed another loss, but as mentioned, there's a lot of promise as that came against strong HB team and considering that, loss wasn't massive in terms of point difference. HB's assist-to-turnover ratio was once again top notch (25 to 3!) and steals went 13-0 to HB, so these in addition to 7 additional ball handling errors of HGK made sure HB was able to get their first win of the season 4
- Not perhaps a notable score, but interesting exception in "typical" stats; LennuK's EOS made his presence known on offensive boards, as he was able to snatch no less than 50% (!) of offensive rebounds available for his team in that match (EOS 21OR, FRE 21DR), and beating FRE 57-30 in a battle for rebounds.

Any thoughts on Round 4 matches? :)

My fellow HGL managers, I have good news for all of you, especially for those who are into stats and want to understand their teams' strengths and weaknesses from a statistical standpoint.

As we know, HGL Team Statistics were published (by me) on Season 1, and then only partially for Season 2 (on 6 first matches) and on Season 3 (2 first matches).

I plan to continue publishing those stats on this Season 4 as well.

As a disclaimer:
Because the statistics collection and statistics tables updating/organizing/stats post-editing process still remains very arduous process, I can't make absolute promises that I would be able to continue it throughout the Regular Season, that is still my clear goal (as I've already invested so much time in it, as you will see, so in poker terms I'm more or less 'pot committed' to this so that all the work doesn't go to waste).

In the past, one of the challenges that restricted the amounts of statistical categories in HGL Team Stats-post were the lack of shooting statistics.

I have now figured out a way, how I can add shooting statistics to HGL Team Stats-posts, which will change these stats and give them totally new dimensions.

This is great news in many respects.
Especially because:

1. Well, basketball is a scoring and defending game. And while additional statistical categories can definitely affect the game big time, in many instances shooting (or defending) quality is what ultimately decides the match winner

2. We can add many interesting and important, new-to-HGL statistical categories now that we have shooting statistics incorporated into a HGL Team Stats-posts. Wait for slightly longer, and you'll all see what I mean!

3. Now that I've seen the statistics myself (you'll see them soon too!), it does help me understand my teams' weaknesses and strengths in a more in depth way, that I never thought possible. (Having said that, of course one needs to remember that more younger the season when they look at stats, the more "unreliable" statistics still are because teams do not play against same strength opposition on each Round).

4. While this is not quite an NBA level statistics in terms of comprehensiveness, I wanted to show, what kind of statistics should be available in every basketball league out there - fantasy or real - including Buzzerbeater "regular leagues".

5. These should (probably) be the most comprehensive statistics available anywhere in the world in fantasy basketball manager-genre (in free to play-games) - I'd happily stand corrected though if one disagrees and proves me wrong.

6. Having in depth information from special/advanced stats on our hands, I think has potential to increase HGL teams' motivation to train better, and possibly make more informed/wise decisions on what to train and at what point in time.

So, first update on Season 4 HGL Team Stats should be 'out of the oven' very soon - stay tuned!

Homegrown Kings Win First HGL Game! (party)

Homegrown Kings def Club Trouville 119-112
(137821717)

Well, it finally happened! We got our first victory in the HGL and hopefully the first of many in the coming seasons.
Everything went right for the Kings in this game. We opened quickly winning the first half 56-44. As expected, Club Trouville soon rallied, winning the second half and coming home strong to narrow the gap. Club Trouville's FCP started to take its toll and even the X-man, usually so clean with the ball, finished with 4 TOs. However, the X-Man once again led all scorers with 31 points and 14 assists despite being unable to hit a single 3-point shot.

good game MrJ!

As I wrote earlier, I was planning to release HGL Team Stats for Season 4, with plenty of new-to-HGL (and new-to-BB!) statistical categories.

It has been my biggest undertaking in HGL to get all these ready for launch, but I'm glad to announce wait is now over!

45 statistical categories are now available in HGL Team Stats-posts 1-3 (links at the end of post)!

Most of them are completely new-to-HGL, and many of them are advanced level/special stats, so I think it's very much possible to make quite deep analysis of your team and your opponents' strengths and weaknesses when taking a look at these stats!

As you may not be familiar with some of the special/advanced statistics categories, and especially their abbreviations, I've made a separate glossary/legend/explanation post, here: (329502.15).

That should guide you through all these stats-posts. Please don't hesitate to ask, if you don't understand what some statistical category means. There are many of us here in HGL that like stats, and I'm sure also others than myself are happy to explain some stats categories in more thorough manner (than what has been explained in glossary, link above).

But now, please enjoy. Maybe same thing happens to you that happened to me - a light bulb moment - when you realize what parts of your team need developing, that you hadn't even realized. May this stats analysis even guide your training to some extent, if you so choose to... :)

As I said, I've put so many hours into this that I try to do it for the whole Season, so that the work doesn't go to waste, and we get the whole, balanced statistical picture when Regular Season has been played (as everyone has met everyone). But as this requires a lot of manual work, I can't guarantee publishing of posts (Seasons 2 and 3 teached me to be humble with my promises about stats). What I can guarantee though, is that they absolutely will not be published after each RS Round (maybe in every 3-6 rounds would be more realistic goal), as it takes lots of time also to sort tables and move them into posts.

But now, enough of talk; see for yourself how your team fares in different stats categories, here:

Season 4 Team Stats Post 1/3: (329502.16)
Season 4 Team Stats Post 2/3: (329502.17)
Season 4 Team Stats Post 3/3: (329502.18)
