Can I ask that do you use all drafting points always, absolutely no matter what your drafting position is, and what kind of drafting positions you've usually had when being able to acquire such high potential players?
Yes, I always use all the points.
As for drafting position, here they are:
Benjamin Paša - 6th pick
Živojin Naumović - 3rd pick
Milorad Georgijev - 1st pick
Amar Dervišhalidović - 38th pick
Dinaid Bukva - 16th pick
Marin Pribanović - 15th pick
Miran Kavazić - 5th pick
So, the chances are better when I'm relegated from the first league, but I had succes even in league 2 :D
And do you (after Group Demonstration, and "2 point interviews" related to those 5-potential prospects) usually scout like all "grey 5 ball prospects", or also 4 and then ball prospects, if you have enough points (not that many 5-potential prospects among previously revealed players, so your seasonal points "last longer") left on that seasons' draft?
I go from the beggining and scout as many as I manage until draft. But from my experience, you may as well scout them on random, since usually your first scout's estimation is worth nothing at all.
My problem on recent years has been lousy drafting positions, as I can't afford to being relegated. Playing on second highest level (in Finland) makes sure there are always active and knowledgeable managers around in your league (that have had worse league record on recent seasons, ensuring them better drafting position), so being able to draft at 8th or 12th (or somewhere around that range) doesn't often leave you any decent draftees to acquire.
From my experience, users don't invest too much in the draft since they probably think it's worthless. In my current league, I invest 10 k/pw, and the average is 5 937, so I'm already in good position.
I just looked, and your league had 1 HOF potential player drafted last draft, and he went 32nd: (55694066), so there's always a good chance.
You had at least 3 MVP potential players chosen after your 1st pick.
Thanks very much for your reply, Pihija!
Yes, that's true that MVP's you can find, but it's just that I also have to balance with the complete training situation I have at hand, and at some points it's too much of a hurdle to start training that 40-45 skill point MVP or HOF.
Too many times I've come to the situation that I give these really bad, higher/high-ish potential players only partial (if at all) training due to afore mentioned reasons, and then on their 2nd, 3rd or 4th season might be starting to give them some training, which is undeniably too late in most cases as training at young age is so important in BB.
In other words, I often can't use enough points (many times I've used exactly same tactics as you have, though!) to get those already somewhat skilled and same time potential players, and in even more cases their current skill setting (or my teams' current training plan) isn't suitable for me.
I used to have pretty good success with high potential players, but that was mostly when I was playing one division below this, partly also because mentioned, I think competition for draft picks/manager skill level/interest towards gathering best possible draftees is generally a notch lower there (apart from intentionally tanking, experienced teams, of course).
And as I can't afford to be relegated, it's also very limited who I can train (especially with 2 position training) at which season and at which position to avoid losing too many games in "regular BB league".
As for last draft, after which 3 MVP's (at least, as you mentioned) were drafted, I received 18yo. superstar, which would be somewhat fine, but his skill set and level (54 currently) does likely make him questionable for training.
Another personal problem of mine is that I can use 0 dollars for draft currently, which is undeniably catastrophic for HG team and will affect me in a long run.
