NEW PLATOON, GUSTO NG IWAN AND LEAGUE III.7

Matagal ng gusto ng New Platoon na umakyat ng division ngunit dahil sa mga hindi inaasahang pangyayari, hanggang sa ngayon ay nandito pa rin sila. Hanggang ngayon ay iniinda pa rin ng team manager nila ang masakit na pagkatalo nila sa Hell Catz nung nakaraang season.

"Sobrang sakit ng pagkatalo iyon. Kaya nagpalit ako ng ilan sa aking mga key players. Nagdagdag ako ng mga players na matitigas ang buto, iyong hindi agad mababalya." Ayon kay Fearless Forecast.

"Sa aking pag-obserba sa mga conference, mukhang nagpalakas din iyong nasa kabilang conference. Kung gaano kacompetitive iyong last season, mukhang mas magiging madugo ngayon."

Industrial Engineers move to Division III, acquire key rookie

Though the DLSU IE-98 Engineers didn't win the division IV pennant last season, they still have a reason to celebrate.

The Engineers drafted point guard Caesar Jesus 16th overall, a steal considering his potential. "We were very lucky to acquire Caesar from the draft, and we are expecting him to blend in our style of basketball" said team manager fpanzer10. The acquisition of Jesus, however, meant the movement of guard Zoran Atanakovic to another team for cash considerations
"it's sad to know this happened but that's the business of basketball. I wish the management all the best." said Zoran, prior to him leaving the gym for the last time.

Caesar is expected to play shared minutes with starting point guard DJ Montano, who is coming off one of the best seasons of his career. Imports Alvaro Iturren and Mark Kriegshauser also expressed their excitement over the acquisition of the 18 year old. "Caesar has the potential to be one of the better point guards in the league, and I'm looking forward to play with him on the court" said Iturren, via a Spanish interpreter. "It would be great to see what Caesar can do on the court" Mark said.

The Engineers are set to join a tenured Division III.7 this season, and team manager fpanzer10 talked about their expected performance this season. "We will win games if we give 110% effort in this conference. Making it to fifth position in this league is our target, making it to the post season is a huge plus" said fpanzer10.

Season 27 Spotlight: the bench players

If you want to know how competitive division III.7 is, ask the bench players of DLSU IE-98.

Third year guard Carey Velez, the Engineers' 25th pick, shared his thoughts on playing against division III players. "It's a very tough conference, (it's) like being in the playoffs every game". The mercurial guard averaged 7.1 ppg, 40% FG and 34% from the three point line last season, which is way below his current averages of 3.8 ppg, 31% FG and 33% 3pt.

This is also evident in the player rotation of the team: only one player has averaged more than 10 minutes of playing time per game in season 27 (HongKong small forward Yau Fusheng). Sixth man Lou Modina, who averaged 7.8 ppg and 6.3 rpg at roughly 18 mpg last season, has so far contributed only 2.4 ppg and 2.8 rpg with roughly 10 mpg of playing time. "This is very frustrating. You got your momentum for being in the finals last season but so far we're playing as if we are an expansion team... We are looking forward to play better basketball in the next couple of games."

Rookie Caesar Jesus is also feeling the pressure to do well off the bench. "I'm learning what I can from DJ everyday, and I tale every mistake as a learning experience for me to do better next time." Caesar has averages of 3ppg, 0.6 rpg, 0.4 apg, 33% FG and 14% 3pt this season.

Change of Power

Last season, Great 8 has a very tight playoff race, as Hell Catz, After Shocks and New Platoon give there best shot to make it to the next division. On the other hand, Natividad Supreme feast on his conference, and did not break a sweat in reaching the finals.

But this season, a big change has occur. After Shocks is in a rebuilding phase while Caloy Boys is having injury problems. and the 4 Big 8 conference teams has embark to a drive to the division 2. Secret Gardeners and ACP has risen from incubation and it seems there goal is simple, to reach the division 2.

As of this moment, Great 8 is passing the Power to the Big 8 but a quick reminder. Our last season, Natividad Supreme, came from the weaker Conference.

Engineers, nanalo laban sa Golden Bears

Ang pagkawala ni Jose Manuel Dinarte sa Golden Bears ay naramdaman kahapon laban sa DLSU IE-98.

Nakalusot ng panalo ang mga Engineers pagkatapos nila pigilan ang Golden Bears, 93 - 102. Nakagawa ang tambalang guwardiya na Alvaro Iturren at DJ Montano ng 55 puntos sa 19/43 shooting, at 6/17 sa 3 point line.

Makikita sa larong ito ang kagustuhan ng Engineers na manalo pagkatapos matalo ng apat na sunod sa Div III.7 : Naka - 10 steal sila laban sa 5 ng Golden Bears. Hindi rin nakagawa ang mga bench player ng Golden Bears (20 na puntos sa 7/25 (28%) na shooting), kumpara sa 23 puntos ng Engineers sa 10/18 FG (56%))

"We are very happy with the win, and hopefully this continues when we play against DILDILATOR on Tuesday" sabi ni team manager fpanzer10.

"Sayang ang mga na-miss kong free throw, buti na lang at nakalamang kami ng malaki kundi maaring ako ang masisisi" sabi ni point guard DJ Montano. "Alam ko yun ang isa sa mga kahinaan ko, kaya sabi ni coach mag-practice pa ako para lubos na maging mas-competitive ako sa mga sunod na laro."

Samantala, si Dinarte ay magpapagaling pa ng dalawang linggo bago makabalik sa Golden Bears. Siya ay may average na 18 ppg, 9.5 rpg at 6.5 apg nitong season.

Ang Engineers ay nasa ika-anim pwesto ng Big 8 conference, na may 2-5 na record.
