Good day everyone !
Here's the topic for this new season of NT. Several roster changes are in the air, including the very important departure of one of our key players, Hugo Nachtergaele. With no less than 141 games (!) for the national team, and 1537 points scored, making him the second longest serving player and fourth best scorer in the history of our NT, the player trained by our beloved AnGi has been the backbone of our team for many seasons.
Unfortunately, now aged 35 it is time for him to let younger players take his place, but he will sorely be missed.
I also remind you all that this is my last term as NT coach, I can't say for sure that I won't come back later but right now I really need a break. This is already the "mandate too much", I did an awful tournament last season, popularity is at it's lowest since a very long time, and I wouldn't even be NT manager if someone trustworthy had applied.
If anyone is interested, please send me a mail so that I can brief you before you apply for the job, but one thing is certain : I won't be running again next season, no matter what does or does not happen.
Ir was an honor being NT manager, and I will never forget the crazy runs in season 32 and 33, with Belgium qualifying and fihting for a semi-final spot until the very last games after wins against Ukraina and France. One of my best BB memories EVER.
This being said, we enter the consolation tournament. Our ranking has sunked to the bottom deep after last season's disaster, and it will take some time to repair the damage done. I hope to make the best possible run for my exit, but we'll also have to see how the team can withstand the departures of some very important players. Of ncourse, newcomers are around, especially for outside players.
I remind every trainer that we're short on big men for the upcoming seasons, so everyone willing to step up and take one for the team is most welcome to do so.
We will be playing Jamaica away and Scotland at home, this is not a bad draw and if we're careful we might be able to pull this off to a good start.
More details to come !
