Hi all,

First of all, thank you for your votes. I'm elected with a raise of 100% in participation, waow great!

Europe Tournament is about to begin and our ambition is to qualy for the next round. It will be tough and I know we'll probably failed but let's have high expectations.

Here are our opponents:
Malta (95th) / Hungary (63th) / Montenegro (62th) / Macedonia (42th) / Portugal (23th) / Austria (25th) / Croatia (26th)

It's may look like a good draw but it's not because Portugal are hosting the tournament. That means it leaves us only one spot to qualify. Furthermore, the calendar is difficult with Austria & Croatia who will concentrate on us because of a match against Portugal the week before/after us. So, it will be hard but we'll try to do our best.

Let's keep the guys in shape. I hope to come back next time with good news.

Thank you,

mplume

Malta 104 - 127 Belgium

In theory, it was our easiest match. Our boys were concentrate enough and applied very well our princetown strategy: 14/31 three-point field goal is quite an achievement.

Right now, there are two rookies in our roster: Henri Isselé & Gosse De Schampheleire. Henri celebrated his first selection directly in the starting five and he did a tremendous job: 10/19 FG - 3/6 3Pts - 9 Reb - 7 Ast - 2 Stl - 23 pts. Isselé is our MVP of the game! De Schampheleire did also a nice match coming from the bench with 8pts 80% FG.

About our roster, those who are following closely our NT surely noticed that one big name is missing. Yes sadely, one season after his mate Ken Neudt, Marcel Decant decided to also end his NT career because of his age (34y). He scored a total of 1.156 pts for our NT and he's our 9th best scorer. Let's hope we find someday another player to fill the hole he gave us with his departure.

Next week, we'll face Hungary. It will be already a tricky game as they've made the surprise of beating Croatia after OT. So please, keep our boys in shape.

Thanks,

mplume

Belgium 117 - 105 Hungary

Hello everyone, a very nice game was achieved by our NT yesterday night!

We weren't confident for that game as Hungary players were in good form (7 players with DMI >= 2 Millions) and ours were not (only 2 players with >= 2M DMI). Anyway, we tried to do our best and it works pretty well!

It was a close game but we've made a solid start in the 4th quarter (+10pts ahead). In the moneytime, Hungary came closer and closer. We were only 5pts ahead with 2'30" left, feeling more and more the pressure from our opponents when Adrien De Sloovere decided to try is 1st attempt at three and he scored! The game was won at that time as Hungary started to make fouls and Gijs Frans converted alsmost all his free-throw (12/13 FT).

Two new "Harm" were on our roster and indeed they did harm Hungary:
_Harm Van Caeyzeele (4/9 FG, 2/2 3FG, 2 Reb, 4 Ast, 14 pts) was our backup PG but endorsed rapidly the leading role with the injury of Remi Lambin.
_Harm Gaethofs was our starting SF (10/18 FG, 5 Reb, 1 Ast, 20 pts) and take the honour to be the best rookie of the match for his 1st appearance.

The MVP of the game was Jean-Loup Monnens even if he was fouled during the 4th quarter, his glorious stats:
9/18 FG - 2/3 3FG - 6/6 FT - 11 Reb - 2 Ast - 1 Blk - 26 pts

Next week, we'll face Montenegro. We have a revenge to take against them as they beat us last season after overtime. So, as usual, keep our boys in shape please.

Thank you,

mplume

Good win ! I was never happy when I had to play in Hungary.

The rest of the schedule has no easy game, but no impossible one neither.

Montenegro 100 - 111 Belgium

3 wins in a row! This game was easier than last week. Furthermore, with their 2-3 zone against our princetown strategy it was a piece of cake for our outside field in great shape: Jooris, Boots & Lambin finish at 50% FG or over it (10/16 at three-point!). Our power forward, J-L Monnens did once again a good match with 22pts & 10 Reb.

All of them could pretend to be the MVP of the game but we'll take only one:
Remi Lambin is the MVP with 10/17 FG - 5/8 3FG - 6 Reb - 6 Ast - 26 pts

Only one rookie on the court yesterday so he's naturaly the best rookie:
Henri Isselé 1/3 3FG - 4 Ast - 1 Stl - 3 pts in 12 minutes.

Next week we'll face the Republic of Macedonia, let's try 4 in a row...

Keep our boys in shape, thank you,

mplume

Despite you targeting their weak spot and them not playing with a better enthusiasm, it was still pretty close. They clearly have a better team than what we credit them with.

I agree. +11 whereas everything was on our side.

Anyway, well done, Belgium is going well for now. Hope it will continue.
