Joe is right, training GS is no help if you play with your major 5 in every game, form will drop week after week.

This has always been the major problem of having a very strong major 5 with nothind behind, no garbage time and no flexibility : you have to play with your best players and they soak more than 40 min. in every game.

Right now I'm playing a good starting 5 with 3 "correct" subs and this is much less "all or nothing" style of play.

You and Joe are absolutely right, i know.
My problem is indeed that i lack depth in my roster, and that my bench compared to my starting 5 is very weak.
The difference between my starters and my bench is huge.
But for quite a while now, i've been looking on the TL for a versatile good 6th man, who would be able to play on almost all positions. But such players are pretty rare, and the prizes begin paid for it seem to high for me right now. Although i'm absolutely not sure these prizes will change for the better in the near future. Actually i fear that the prizes are going to keep rising for the near future. So hence my inability to acquire a strong 6th man for the moment.

About prices, they are right now sky-high and I agree that adding another player is getting really complicated. And a jack-of-trades must look like a SF, meaning several millions are required.

More than ever, training his own players is a must if we want to avoid the price of another starting 5 every few seasons :/

Surely, they are a huge asset to your team. But wouldn't you be delighted if you had turned them into regular BBBL starters ? After all, I also thought that a 18-yo trainee wouldn't fit in a team tailored to get results, but now I think I was wrong, and it is doable (though not always simple, that's for sure) to craft a player from scratch to suit your requirements.

Not to mention that with time passing, your trainee slowky turns into an acceptable sub, then an acceptable starter ... then an acceptable world class player, if there is enough dedication AND luck with injuries, of course.

Double post, sorry : before I thought that having an already partly trained player was mandatory, but I don't think this is right. However, you can forget about training more than one starter at a time or you should forget getting results or getting training ...

Perhaps the best would be to have 3 players, a solid starter, a sub, and a trainee, whose training plans match - or 2 solid starters if you want to play it safe, but sometimes it is very difficult to know in advance what the training plan will be.

Nice win Dartreb ;)

Even if I had not real chances, I started to watch the game closely in the 4QT when I was only 10 or 11 points behind, who knows, with no faults (so big luck), your starting 5 would have been stuck on the bench ^^ and perhaps I would have been able to grab an OT.
But it would have been crazy :p

I've hesitated until the deadline to set my defense tactic, and then I took a bet...
But with Ankic injury, I mismatched my SG & PG, awful inside shot for the SG, with inside tactic...not ideal.

Anyway! I've won the 4QT! And that"s a hell of an achievement!:p

It's on that very positive note that I would like to say goodbye to you all, it was a nice experience again to play against/with you this season, next time I''ll try to build a more competitive team a bit earlier ;)

See you soon!

(of course I will continue to play the 3 remaining game professionally)

Nice game, 16 points isn't that much.

I hesitated a long time about playing PON or POS, but with Antic injured (replaced by Sisandes but his form was awful) and most of all Fong Cheng Qian gone, your SF spot was becoming very weak and you were coming up against Skret who is extremely good - I was getting very confident. Maybe you should have kept him until after this game.

Funny thing is, I knew you would be taking risks by going full GDP, and with your outside players decimated I reallly thought you would be hitting a R&G GDP, or at least predict an outside play.

Don't overreact to your PG / SG switch, the real problem is going full inside defense on an outside play.

Too bad your started to be competitive to late in the season, but if you are still healthy (financially speaking) there is no reason you couldn't come back very soon.

About the final, I am amazed not to play Amenra, don't take it bad eagle, but I really thought you wouldn't stand a chance against Amenra. Congratulations to you for winning a game I wouldn't have bet on !

No problem Dartreb, i'm used to being the underdog and i'm equally amazed i won against AmenRa

Anyway, great win for my little Eagles today against AmenRa in the semi-final. We probably don't stand much chance to win the against Kelmis in the final, but hey...you never know what might happen in one single game...

And even if we lose the final as expected, i'm still real proud of the achievement of my little Eagles this season...

Several small, though significant mistakes cost me HCA, e.g. the first away game @Ventola, and most of all the home TV game against Gringalets (but I deserve all credit for this mess of course).

If Amenra and I both don't mess up, we should meet ourselves in the final, but no doubt a superior team + HCA should bring static success. Well done !
