I have been through my list of 18 and 19 year olds. If your player did get a call up, he may be in with a chance to make the squad in the future. If you want to mail me regarding training plans for these players you can. I will try and get round to messaging the managers of players I’m most excited about but with around 200 players on the list it will be impossible for me to get through them all to message.

If you’re player didn’t get a call up (and isn’t in the TL) and you feel he might be a good prospect please get in touch.

I am hoping to get through the 20 and 21 year olds on Friday. If you think you have a player worth my attention let me know before Saturday so I can have a look.

The first game in the Arrows era was a difficult tie against 20th ranked Germany. These teams faced off in the round of 16 last season which saw England come out on top in a defensive, low scoring game. This time was once again a low scoring affair as England came out on top 79-70.

The game started off tight as neither team could take control of the game. England found a way to overpower the German defence, scoring 29 points in the 2nd quarter giving England a 48-33 lead at half time. Germany turned up the defence in the 3rd quarter, limiting England to only 9 points and getting themselves back in the game ready for the final period. England found their offence again and were able to maintain their lead throughout the final quarter to win the game 79-70.

Top performers for England were Francis Padilla with 18 points and 17 rebounds, Kevin Aronberg with 15 points off the bench shooting 6-7FG, Elvin Goodhew with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Kirby Yarwood with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

We next face another tough test in Georgia, who look a lot stronger than their ranking suggests this season.

Annoyingly, you can only create a poll at the start of a new thread. Would people prefer me to create a new thread for each game so you can vote your player of the game, have people reply to this post to vote or for me to pick my player of the game?

I think it's better if you do it. I don't think a new thread for each game is necessary, but it could be nice if some of us would comment before you name the MVP.

More importantly, well played. That's a tremendous first game for you. My vote, if I had one would be for Padilla, with an honourable mention for Yarwood, who did a very good impression of a basketball player.

Congrats on the first win! It's a good start this could help to get 2nd place if we not going to lose any "surprise" games. (Except Italy) .

I think one thread for the season is probably best, it will be easier for people who want to look back in future years and review it. I don't mind how the MVP is decided, if it's left to the users then perhaps announce the result on Sunday (or even a small section in the match report for the following game) to give people a week to review the game and post a comment in the thread.

MVP: Padilla with 18/17 looks like the star performer. Shout-out to Aronberg for a quick fire 15 in 12 minutes off the bench.

Great start to the campaign!

I did think a new thread for each game would be over the top. I like the idea of rather than announcing my player of the game, stating the 'top performers' to give a variety of players that did well. Happy for people to comment who their 'player of the game' is and I can keep score of that. Likewise when it comes to the MVP I can put a list of players forward to be voted for as MVP?

Great first win, against a higher ranked team in Germany.

Thank you! Great start to the season and it does put us in a good position for the rest of the season. Georgia look pretty strong next week so I'm not guaranteeing anything yet

Game 2 of the season saw us face another difficult test against Georgia who are a lot stronger than their rank suggests.

Georgia led for most of the game although not being able to pull away at any point other than the start of the 3rd quarter. England battled back to take a 1 point lead in to the final period. The 4th quarter continued as the quarters before with neither team being able to take control. A jump shot from SG Amarsari Singh have England a 1 point lead with 27 seconds to go. This was followed by a strong defensive effort from SF Kirby Yarwood to force a Georgian miss. The England youth showed great composure at the free throw line to see out the game and a 110-103 win.

Jonathan Hendriks and Amarsari Singh joint top scored with 25 points each, with Hendriks adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists and Singh grabbing 4 boards and getting 4 assists. Singh’s defensive skill also on show as he held the Georgian SG to a combined 5-19 shooting. C Elvin Goodhew shot 6-6 FG on his way to 13 points to go with his 9 rebounds. SF Kirby Yarwood had another strong all round game with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

England next face Andorra who have forfeited both of their first 2 games.
