Congrats to Raging Seagull who played all 5 players 48 minutes against Apex Legends and got best efficiency for the whole division in every single position for combined +239 efficiency.

Dropito and their new bargain Brazilian centre Ermenegildo Rodolfo and a seemingly full-strength Chicago Bulbs II team met in prime end of season form with both having the clear highest game ratings in the division tonight and playing the same Look Inside tactics. Chicago having sensational perimeter defence (against Dropito's strong PDef) seemed to make the difference with Chicago's shooting being better from all ranges and the home advantage probably helping too in a 95-83 victory.

Similarly fellow perimeter defence appreciators Glasgow Blue Jays beat Revolta Culé for similar reasons and didnt need home advantage to put the Andorrans 4 games out of the playoffs easing to a 111-77 victory behind a 46% from 3 point team shooting night.

In the Great 8 conference, Glasgow Raptors going 33-36 from the charity stripe and typically dominant rebounding nights from Shawn Gray and Marc Hutchinson who almost matched Santa Booker's team rebounding total themselves made what could have been a closer night a reletively safe 14 point victory.

Locomotive Edinburgh gave an example of the power of garbage time being 79-19 up after 3 quarters then watching the bench allow 35 points in the final quarter! Back-up power forward David MacMurchie did go 14-7-4 for +19 efficiency in 15 minutes though on the positive side.

The biggest game of the night saw the immovable object meet the other immovable object with Chicago Bulbs II playing Glasgow Blue Jays and both having tremendous perimeter defence. Chicago did everything they can putting in a + effort and playing inside tactics but Glasgow Blue Jays despite the lesser effort had 21 team rating, 1.3 average player rating, 54 efficiency and in the end 23 extra points scored and now have a game advantage at the top of the table.

Celestia BC have recently spent $1.65 million on the Spanish duo of Rodrigo Rodal and Albert Recasens and increased the team wage bill to $681k a week, and with wondrous perimeter defence held Skytturnar to 3.6% from 3 which likely doomed them to defeat, sensational inside shooting doing the rest in a 91-70 win for the Luxembourgois.

In the Great 8, Raging Seagull had both their Malta u21 starters put up quality performances with Tony Bonavia ending with a 54-6-10 +54 efficiency statline and Rudolph Dougall supporting with 19&16 in shocking Glasgow Raptors by 129-122 in a bright night for the future of Maltese basketball.

Locomotive Edinburgh had a tough time being up only 62-60 at the half and with both Buchan and MacNuir being somewhat down on top form, but eventually ground down Bibby Brotherhood through an absolute clinic by Scott Kennedy who ended up 57&18 &+64 efficiency in a 141-109 victory.

Key result of the night was Revolta Culé, B.C's being a potential playoff spoiler in an 151-144 OT win over Skytturnar behind a 38p&21reb peformance by César Benítez. They have the opportunity to complicate things further as they finish the season with a home tie against the current last playoff spot holders Chicago Bulbs II on Saturday who crushed Rocalux 114-25 including holding the Luxembourgois to a scoreless last quarter.

Glasgow Blue Jays had a surprisingly easy night against Dropito who despite 4 extra player rating and a deficit of only 0.2 in average player rating were forced into a poor shooting night by a mixture of the Blue Jays' typical miserly defence and extra enthusiasm spent on the tie. After being down 77-46 at the end of the 3rd quarter, Dropito had a better final 12 to bring it back to a more repectable 95-76 but now have $800k wagebill Celestia BC in the final game to beat and confirm a playoff spot.

The 3rd team in the mexican stand-off for the final Big 8 playoff spot in Skytturnar have 0-21 Rocalux so both Chicago (thanks to their superior PD), and Dropito (almost equal on PD with 1 extra win but a much harder game) need to win to hold them off.

Great 8 fixtures in Game 22 have all the top 4 face the bottom 4 so the positions are very likely fixed now barring any shock results.

In the race for the final Big 8 playoff slot Skytturnar easily beat Rocalux 136-41, so to lose out both Chicago Bulbs II had to beat Revolta Culé, B.C, and Dropito had to beat Celestia BC.

To their credit Revolta Culé, B.C despite only really having pride to play for tried to win putting out a team with 6 higher game rating than Chicago, matching them for defence, and crushed Chicago 58-37 in the boards battle. With all of that and home advantage too they still saw Chicago shoot better on the night and come out with a 109-97 victory.

So Skytturnar had to pin their hopes on Celestia BC and that their $840k/week squad would overwhelm the Andorrans. Celestia put out a BBB level team with divisional season highs for both game rating (176) and average player rating (16.3), with Dropito countering with what would otherwise be an impressive 158 & 14.3.

Dropito had the home advantage and also chose to put extra effort into the game, and in a fight between two sets of look inside tactics had Emengardo Lindolfo and veteran Andorra full international Roger Marull dominate in rebounds and had Dropito make 15 more visits to the charity stripe which combined meant that Dropito came out winners by 116-109, and gave a reminder of what both rebounding and free-throwing shooting can do for a team.

..... not even gonna promote with best record due to the freak result in div II.4. Well done to Celestia i guess.... not sure how many times i can keep saying this every year and keep my sanity in this division.

Hi ! I understand your frustration. Last season, I recruited heavily after the cup final. I spent half the season with a big deficit and didn't even make it past the first round because my players were in such terrible shape. I was so frustrated. This season, I was determined to move up, so I recruited heavily. I had a strong team for Division 2, and yet you had me worried until the very end. I wasn't feeling confident against you. You have a great team, and you'll be the next one to get promoted! ;) Keep it up, and well done on a great season!

Thank you for the message, I completely understand your side of things too and as always i don't feel too hard done by losing to such a strong opponent. Much like BC Bodvar i think you can do damage in the top league next year. Good luck there.

The Blue Jays, well we will retool and come back stronger like we did last year.
