"We are very happy with the win, and hopefully this continues when we play against DILDILATOR on Tuesday" sabi ni team manager fpanzer10.

Engineers win against DILDILATOR

For the first time this season, the Engineers have a winning streak.

Led by Australian big man Mark Kriegshauser (37 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists), DLSU IE-98 won convincingly by the score of 111-94 against DILDILATOR. Filipino stalwart Luduvico also played a fantastic game, converting all eight shots to fill up the stat sheet with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

"Nagpapasalamat ako kay coach na pinagkatiwalaan niya ako, kahit na alam niya medyo masama mga huli kong laro" said Estil, who just had one of his worst shooting nights last Saturday.

Rookie Caesar Jesus also started to show signs of life this conference, garnering 8 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal in 17 minutes of action.

Irish superstar David MacAulay proved to be a scoring machine, leading DILDILATOR with 50 points (20-33 FG, 4-5 3pt), 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

The Engineers play against Antonio Piccinonno and the Joshywoshy Basket Club this Saturday (May 3), 530pm at the Velasco Hall.

Team Feature: Lucilo Quilao

Back then, 18 year old Lucilo Quilao had no idea what was in store for him after high school.

Having been selected first in the season 23 draft, the lanky 6ft 9in Quilao was tasked to provide additional firepower to the Engineers, who were at the time an expansion team led by Israeli sniper Ali Zuabi and Filipino power forward Peter Steven Camalon. Lucilo had to play multiple positions (both forward position, and sometimes even point guard) and switch roles from starter to bench player due to the rotation experiments of then rookie manager fpanzer10. He ended his rookie campaign with a decent line of 8.7 ppg, 5.8 ppg and 2.3 apg in 20 games.

Both Zuabi and Camalon were eventually shipped out to make way for new talent, paving the way for Quilao to take on a starting position for the engineers the following season. Though his scoring average went up to 10.2 ppg, his efficiency rating has decreased by 1.0, primarily attributed to a drop in his FG, 3PT and rebounding stats. Lucilo uses this as an inspiration to do better.

The entry of imports Alvaro Iturren, Mark Krieghauser, Ulisses Varela, Zoran Atanakovic (both Varela and Atanakovic were eventually traded away for cash) and Hakki Cav have made Lucilo's stint with the Engineers even more challenging, since he would have to prove his worth as a first pick. Some analysts mentioned after the season 23 draft that the Engineers taking Quilao too high on the draft board is a gamble, similar to fellow small forward Evan Turner being picked second by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Consistency has been an issue throughout Quilao's career, and he is aware of it. "I know that being the first pick means you have to show up in every game and that definitely is a lot of pressure, and I welcome that... It gives me the opportunity to be a better player, and I hope to share what I've learned to the incoming rookies" said Quilao during a post-practice interview.

Quilao fans were not disappointed last season (season 26), when he has posted averages of 13.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 5.8 apg, and a career high 1.5 bpg to lead the Engineers to a 20-2 record and their first ever finals appearance against talawis. The celebration, however, was short-lived: Talawis won the last two games of the finals and was crowned season 26 champion.

This season, however,Lucilo plans to bounce back after last seasons meltdown in the finals. "I know I have a lot of work to do in order to improve my game, and I'm only 22 years old so that means I still have alot of basketball in me."

Watch Lucilo Quilao and the Engineers this season at Division III.7

Engineers reserves extend winning streak to three games, trounce Joshywoshy 137-90

A high scoring third quarter, coupled with a stingy defense were just what the Engineers needed to put the game away.

After trading baskets in a very offensive oriented first half of action last night against the Joshywoshy Basket Club, DLSU IE-98 relied on the shooting prowess of its secondary unit to increase its seven point lead to 38 by the end of the third quarter. The DLSU starters were pulled out except Luduvico Estil to start the 4th quarter.

Leading the charge of the reserves was third year swingman Carey Velez with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.

The Engineers have averted what appeared to be a disaster in the second quarter, when Turkish bigman Hakki Cav was sidelined with 2:54 left after rolling his ankle following a jump shot attempt. He did not return and finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. A medical examination concluded that his injury was minor, and is listed as day to day according to team doctors. He is expected to play this Tuesday night against Alam Na.

Hakki Cav's performance, however, may have been the motivation of the Engineers to get back into action.

The reserves of DLSU IE-98 outperformed Joshywoshys (55 points against 11 , 22 rebounds against 7, 14 assists against 3), in this game. Six Engineers also scored in double figures, led by Alvaro Iturren and Mark Kriegshauser with 23 points each, and all Engineers scored at least four points in this contest.

"I'm very happy with the teams performance, but the real test happens when we meet the top teams from both conference before the all-star break. We are hoping to steal at least one game from any of them" said team manager fpanzer 10. "This doesn't mean, however, that we will take Alam Na lightly. We are looking forward to playing our brand of basketball this coming Tuesday."

Kriegshauser had a near flawless performance, missing only one field goal with 10-11 Field Goals, made both free throws and his lone three point attempt, complemented with 11 rebounds and 1 steal. Luduvico Estil flirted with another triple double, posting a line of 8 points, 17 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Italian superstar Antonio Piccinonno led the Joshywoshy Basket Club with 24 markers, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal.

The Engineers hope to extend their streak to four games when they visit Alam Na on 06 May 2014.

DLSU 98-IE - 137: Iturren - 23, Kriegshauser - 23, Velez - 20, Quilao - 19, Fusheng - 13, Cav - 10, Montano - 9, Estil - 8, Modina - 8, Jesus - 4

Joshywoshy Basket Club: 90: Piccinonno - 24, Skoutas - 20, Nart - 12, Pietraszko - 12, Laranjeiro - 11, Lagos - 5, Sorilla - 4, Lamayo - 2, Primalion - 0, Leitao - 0, Lapasaran - 0

Quarterscores: 38-26, 71-64, 114-76, 137-90
