I see all these posts, about how long it takes an Arena to pay for itself, through merchandise. This isn't really the ideology is it? People aren't taking into account the revenue from the added seats? Or did I miss that?

Anyways I'm a returning player, and I've always piecemealed my arenas. Going for quicker builds to get those seats, ASAP. But this time I'm trying to be thrift about it. The Merchandise bonus(?), do I have to spend 1 million at 1 time or should I wait for 2 million?

I absolutely would not wait to do it all at once. Your arena is selling out at three of four price points, and every game that you don’t have more seats or higher prices is costing you money. If you can afford to add 300k, awesome. If you can only do 100k, fair. But I most definitely wouldn’t wait to do it all at once because you’re not maximizing the profitability in the meantime.

As a (nearly) brand new team, I’d say your goal by season’s end would be something like…

6000-6500 bleachers
800-1000 lower tier
120-140 courtside
8-10 box

That way you’ve got more seats bringing you in money, or more bleachers that if need be you can lower the price a dollar and sell more of.

In addition: adjust your pricing to sell about 90-95% of each category.

Is the 0.5M arena generally considered a waste? I have about 500k of free money to spend, was debating between an arena upgrade (I currently have basic arena) or a gym / merchandising store.

Seems like an arena upgrade is best bang for my buck, but I'm wondering if I should wait for the 1M upgrade rather than go with the 0.5M one...

For what it's worth I'm D3 and wouldn't mind sliding back to D4 of it means better long term success (so selling off players to get to 1M in free spend is not a. Issue)...
