In my opinion the engine needs a fix when it comes to rebounds in general and outside shooting percentages.

Mediocre rebounding (8-10) on a guard is a great asset, those ~6 rebounds per game will help you a lot and are relatively cheap compared to just one level rebounding more on a big men (like CE said).

I dont really think that u lose that 6 defensive rebounds if ur PG wont have 6+ reb skill, i think when ur team have to get that reb, so every player gets his % to get this reb, like ur PG-10% SG-5% SF-15% PF-30% and C-40% if they all have same skills. I`m not saying it is like that, i`m just wondering. And i`m pretty sure not only rebound skill depends for rebs, it must be driving or smth i dont know, couse i have 10 reb PF who always taking more rebs than 15 reb C. And he taking much much more rebs. I`m think inside shooting helps to take offensive rebs too.

well, thats guessing.could also be a matchup thing. and here i'm back on topic. if the opponents guards have a 8 in rebounding a 6 on your guards isnt much better than a 2 in my opinion.

i am with crazyeye and knecht, good teamrebounding helps to manage the salary on your bigs, but still they carry most of the load, especially when playing a 3-2 zone

I had the same idea a couple of seasons ago, that driving was linked to (offensive) rebounds because a driving player is closer to the basket to catch his missed shot.

However I was told that, thats not how the engine works.

it must be, how can PF(10 reb 11 driving) can always take more rebs than C(15reb, 5driving) in other way.

I dunno. My PF always tends to be more 'active' than my C. Both of them have exactly the same skills, but my PF shoots a lot more and my PF snags many more offensive rebounds, although my C snags more defensive rebounds. Their driving skill is +- 1 of each other.

It seems to me this would work how it works in real life with almost any conceivable way of how the sim processes rebounds: each offensive rebound is worth about 75% of a possession, and each defensive rebound is worth about 25% of a possession. In other words each defensive rebound missed by a player on your team has about a 75% chance of going to one of your other teammates. Of course this is variable by player matchup and relative team rebounding strength. Another way to think of it is that each 4 defensive rebounds are equal to one turnover, assuming points per possession is average on turnover possessions (in real life this is far from being true but not sure if the sim does transition offense).

With how salary works, it seems that rebounding is more valuable on relatively lower salary guards. Let's say you are a division team IV that has a top scoring SG with 40k salary and a defensive PG worth only 15k/week who's best position is listed as SG. Each level of rebounding would cost more than double on the SG but would provide somewhat similar benefit on both players, so the rebounding is much higher value on the PG.

Rebounding for SGs? Not the most important skill for sure. The more, the better. I usually prefer my guards to have at least 3 or 4 in RB, but it's not the end of the world if they don't. It all depends on their other skills - IS and ID are always the priority.

RB for guards? I laugh at this!

My starting SG has averaged >3 rebounds per game with his atrocious RB.

In my opinion, it's all about home court advantage when it comes down to guards and rebounds.

Yeah my PG has had some games with 7 or 8 REB and has atrocious REB

Personally, I would prefer at least 5 RB on my guards, RB in guards are pretty useful imo.

The reason I think many guards with low RB are able to get lots of rebounds in a particular game, is because there is a mismatch in RB skill, the defender( usually a guard as well ) has lower or same level of RB( since majority thinks that RB is a useless skill that jacks up salary on guards ).

Also, I tend to think that rebounding plays a very large part in winning games:
1. Offensive rebounds create more chances for your team to score( obviously )
2. Defensive rebounds avoid giving your opponent a second chance to score, avoid lost of 2 points while creating a chance for you to score, creating a 2 point, so its basically a 4 point play imho.

Anyhow, these are just my thoughts and opinion, might be wrong :)
