Game 2 of the season saw us face another difficult test against Georgia who are a lot stronger than their rank suggests.
Georgia led for most of the game although not being able to pull away at any point other than the start of the 3rd quarter. England battled back to take a 1 point lead in to the final period. The 4th quarter continued as the quarters before with neither team being able to take control. A jump shot from SG Amarsari Singh have England a 1 point lead with 27 seconds to go. This was followed by a strong defensive effort from SF Kirby Yarwood to force a Georgian miss. The England youth showed great composure at the free throw line to see out the game and a 110-103 win.
Jonathan Hendriks and Amarsari Singh joint top scored with 25 points each, with Hendriks adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists and Singh grabbing 4 boards and getting 4 assists. Singh’s defensive skill also on show as he held the Georgian SG to a combined 5-19 shooting. C Elvin Goodhew shot 6-6 FG on his way to 13 points to go with his 9 rebounds. SF Kirby Yarwood had another strong all round game with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
