I got a couple of decent picks - a 6'2'' $3.4k 19 y.o. perennial allstar and an 18 y.o. 7'2'' star with not entirely terrible starting skills. (Clearly I planned well in drafting a PG and a C in the same draft.)

Have you been training him? How much would you sell him for?

discovering the talent of players available for draft means spending a lot of money, you can have information about their strength with a small amount and pick a player with good initial skills but easily his talent will be poor.
so, when i want a talented one to train i simply buy him. i decide how much i want to spend and look for the better one on the market and that's all. i need money to do that (but i think less than spying the draftees) and a large arena full of fans happy to follow a winning team.
all my actions in the game are a consequence of this reasoning, sometimes i see teams formed only by young players and training all of them but these teams will go nowhere because it's impossible to train in a decent way more than 2-3.
this is the basic of buzzerbeater in my opinion and draft is a minor part of the game, it is only a question of luck to pick a young talented player.

So you think it's like buying a scratchit ticket or the lottery?
