Last season great 8 was clearly superior but that's not the case anymore

Great 8 is the East and it has been much stronger for the last 3 seasons, at least. Historically, 4th in the East has been stronger than 2nd in the West. 5th to 8th place teams also much stronger in the East. That said, each season the early season predictions have been wrong. The stronger team at the start of the season doesn't always win it.
