With the fifth game of the season tonight, it's the first Battle of K-W of the season and the 15th time the two teams have met. Since Season 47 when the Kitchener High-Toppers enter League II.4, the rivalry has be fierce. The Waterloo Whiplash have had the upper hand early in the rivalry taking the Win in both their league meetings that year by healthy margins of; 19 and 32 points. Since then the Kitchener squad has held their own splitting the season series 1-1 with Waterloo every season. Until last season(Season 53) when Kitchener surprising came away with the season series victory, winning both of the matches that year. This leaves us at 7-7 life time between the two teams and tonight one of them will set the tone for the rivalry going forward. The team from Waterloo is not lead by one or two key players but rather have a pretty evenly skilled team with the ability to attack and defend in any sort of scheme. This is apparent with the Whiplash having 3 players from their team in the Season 53 MVP Voting top 10; with Andrea Pillittu and Kuzma Brill finishing 5th and 6th, followed up by Freddi Vizcardo in 10th. Kitchener is a little different in the formation of their squad having 2 or 3 key players, a few strong supporting players but the skill of their bench falls off dramatically. In the Season 53 MVP Voting Kitchener also had 3 players which clearly are the key members of the team. With Kirk "The Captain" Johnstone Winning the MVP award and also gaining a spot on the Canadian National team last. Christos Ftenakos earning enough votes for 2nd and a few place back in 7th was Scott Stallard. The home team has won 8 or the 14 meetings and if the stats hold true, it's any ones game. With a star studded line-up from both squads the Battle of K-W set, will be one for the ages and go down in the history books a turning point in Canadian history, as much so as the Battle of the Plains of Abraham.

Watch the game live at 7pm EST tonight on any internet capable device to be part of History!!!!!

I just saw this now! I'm afraid I'm not keeping up my end of the rivalry this season. I've tried to keep a balanced team with good strength at all positions, starters and bench but it looks like I'm quickly becoming the doormat of League 2.4!

Hopefully I can get my act together and give you a better match later this season.
