Hello everyone,
As a few of you are already aware of, I started a YouTube channel specifically for BuzzerBeater at the beginning of 2020:
(https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFW6YNUb5UT0JF5yB1ynAbQ)After taking a long absence from the game, BB-Justin made me interested in returning and I have revamped the YouTube channel. This time around I wanted to do something a little special with it as well. While my main team will be used in a traditional manner, I wanted to do something unique with my Utopia team and take suggestions from all of you and record the progress for all of you. It's not every often you get to see the intricate workings of another team on BB.
As for what exactly I want to do, I've narrowed it down to some interesting scenarios and want to get your input on what you want to see.
1. Full court press-able roster - With the new changes to stamina, it is very possible that a FCP-style team could work. We would look at forming a roster and training plan that allows the Utopia team to not just run FCP, but run it and be competitive.
2. 5-out spread offense with no true bigs - (PG/SG/SG/SF/F) Along with the stamina changes, outside offense are a little more useful than they used to be. We would look at creating a 5-out system that can defend inside and rebound just enough to get by and form a great outside oriented team.
3. Full home-grown team - This option is not unheard of and would definitely be the slowest to come to fruition. We would look at stacking up on as many draft points as possible and slowly build up our team from scratch. For this option, this initial season would be used to build up money and then slowly transition to homegrown next season.
4. Reverse patient designed offense - For this option we would look at creating the best reverse patient built team possible. Focusing on two trainees who can run the Scoring-Center role and complementary players with tons of defense and passing. This option is perhaps the riskiest, as at some point BB could adjust the "reverse patient" strategy so that it is not abused as much. As most of you know reverse patient is also typically crushed by zone defenses, which could be a huge barrier.
5. Standard team building. Probably not the most exciting for you long-term managers, but it could in theory be the most helpful for newer managers and managers who have not even registered yet. I would discuss what I value in teams, how most managers view the game/training, and use it as more of a guide and less of an experiment.
6. Pound the Paint - (PG-PF-PF-C-C) This makes me think of the old old BB days and would be creating the ultimate LI monster. We would have a high leverage passing PG and tons of bigs manning the court at the same time. For this strategy we would likely utilize a lot of zones and SB on defense as well.
7. Micro-nation Project - We would pick a micro-nation and work their U21/NT team from the ground up. Initial thought is Guatemala, who has 5 active managers, but are ranked the worst (98th) U21 team in the world right now. The country could very well change depending on player availability on the TL, but the concept would remain the same.
I'll be looking at getting started on one of these in the next few days, so get your votes in quick and we can see what people are feeling! In some situations we can always change paths later on.
