To all candidates: you might not be aware of it, but the current ranking is not really representative of the real level of the team.
The U21 coach went MIA after many successful seasons, leading to walk overs before the current coach could take over and try to save what was left of the team.
How will you deal with that situation?
Oviously training of 18, 19 and 20yo was not followed religiously in the meantime, but there is a core of good managers training players anyway. The issue is more often than not getting 12 good ones at the same time... The number of really active canadian teams is probably closer to 80 than 160 (naismith + 4 dII, dIII are not really competitive and full of bots), that's not a huge pool in itself.

Not a candidate, but really what can they say? We "actives" will just have to keep pumping out a good supply of prospects for them to choose from.

I guess it'll be nice to have whoever is chosen to discuss more about future club plans, like letting us know if there's a shortage of a specific type of player thats coming up. I know i can't adjust my training plan that fast but it would be good to know. Like i'm training PF/Cs at the moment, but if there is a glut then maybe i can adjust and pump out guards in the future instead. Dunno... Just having a more active forum would be super already. =D

Yes I know, it's just to put things into perspective for the candidates, so that they know what they are getting themselves into if they didn't read the u21 rescue thread.
It's not the usual situation where you inherit the 20yos from the previous manager, you'll need to get creative to fill up the gap in training, that's what I want to hear about, not copy/paste generic speeches that can apply to 99% of teams, where you say you'll answer questions in the debate thread and disappear...

Even with 80 active users it is possible to build a good roster. Of course the best players and young players must be raised and followed well otherwise the work would be in vain.
My commitment is also in this sense, in reawakening interest in the u21 team that has been too often put on the sidelines lately.
I have read your posts and there is no doubt that creating an active forum is an important step in recreating the interest of the community.
Let's say that part of the void that the previous mandates may have created can be filled with intelligent tactics and study of the opponents ... then in perspective you have to start training again at your best

Thank you for your answer.

In my mind, the training in itself is not an issue, player still get trained, but rather the fact that only the U21 manager knows what he has, and can guide managers to shape a coherent roster. When Cletus contacted me, my first question was "what do you need, I can train him like this or like that". Without guidance, you can end up with 4 great SG but no decent PG, 5 well rounded SF but no real big players, etc.

Yes of course, the fundamental thing in addition to the training itself is to develop players to have 3/4 for each position and choose from game to game based on form and opponent/tactics.
Obviously for example if we were full of Centers some shorter players would have to be converted into guards/plays and/or vice versa
