We began our foray into the Consolation Tournament tonight with a landslide victory over Paraguay, 121-68.
It was helpful to build on our points diff without expending too much energy in the season opener because we haven't exactly been gifted the easiest run of it this season.
Brazil, Bosnia, Romania and Uruguay are all tough opponents and the reality is we need to beat at least two of those four along the way to progress. Game shape will be VERY important in those weeks.

Our squad is looking solid at the early stages of the season, with a handful of veterans still looking sharp and some mid-20s guys really starting to make their presence felt. This season may end up being the start of a bit of transition for the National squad, however, and as the team enters season 61 there are almost certainly going to be some spots up for grabs as some of our incumbents begin to age out, so if you have a player you think is on the fringe stay in touch and work on his training over this season and he just might be suiting up at some stage very soon.

In tonight's game the shooting of Davidson and Houghton were just too hot for their opponents, while Begum made the most of some minutes after a bit of a dry spell to go at a point a minute off the bench.
We dominated the boards and assists and went 50% from long range - not a whole lot to complain about really.
We have have a tough game against Brazil next Tuesday morning at 9am but it's a great chance early in the Cup to position ourselves for a high seeding. Look after their game shape, fellas!
