What better way to go against a 40k salary behemoth than to smash headfirst into him? That's what our boys did tonight, and we totally overwhelmed him. The game was pretty tight early on, but we managed to pull away in the following 2 quarters.

Lim Long Kok paced our team with 25 points from 9 of 18 field goals. He hit all 6 of his free throws and was everywhere on defense, picking up two blocks and a steal. He also narrowly missed out on a double-double as he pulled down 9 rebounds. Speaking about missing out, Li Wai Soon narrowly missed out on a triple double, as he finished the game with a statline of 12 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. He wasn't very efficient on offense, losing the ball 5 times and hitting only 25% of his two pointers, but he managed to anchor the team in the absence of team captain Phua De Keong while hitting both of his three point attempts. That said, he wasn't the most inefficient player as Liang Bingnan built houses throughout the game with an abysmal 18% field goals percentage. Still, he managed to make up for his cold night with his hustle - grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists.

In overall, it was a pretty decent win. Phua De Keong looked out of sorts due to too much game time last week. Lim Kim Choon was dropped from the team despite his 25 point outburst last week because his fitness wasn't guaranteed. But our boys still managed to come out tops, thanks to a last minute call-up for Lim Long Kok. Our next match is against Pakistan U21, who coincidentally also have their own 40k behemoth. Let's hope our boys manage to hit tip top shape to take him on.

We were handed a blow last Saturday when Phua De Keong exited the game with an injury. We needed our bigs to be in tip top shape to contain the 7'1" Javad Haghighi, but here we are missing our best player for the second game in a row. That said, we were lucky that Ong Kian Lee was just lurking around the corner, waiting for a chance to breakout. In the end, our boys managed to keep the Pakistani behemoth at bay. He had a hard time breaking through our zone defense, having nothing on the stat sheet except for a turnover after 9 minutes of play before he got subbed. While he finished the game with a 11 point 12 rebound double-double, but he only shot 38% from the field and finished the game with a +/- of -32.

Lee Long Kok once again led the offense with 30 points on 55% shooting. He also hit 5 of his 6 attempts from outside. He was equally tenacious on the other side of the court, putting up 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks for an all round game. Toh Choon Wah also impressed the crowd with a 11 point 10 rebound double-double. While he overshadowed his post partner Li Wai Soon on offense, bit the latter left his mark on the game, often keeping Javad Haghighi in check and finishing the game with an amazing defensive performance with 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Meanwhile Liang Bingnan and Au Huat Loong ran our offense like maestros, dishing out a combined 11 assists.

After being dropped from the team earlier, Li Kim Choon made a comeback this game after getting into form. He put up a respectable statline of 13 points and 3 rebounds. With him on board, we currently have 3 go-to guys on offense. That's a lot of depth on the wings. To make things even better, Li Kim Choon and Teoh Long Ying are only 20 year olds, giving them one more season to terrorize the defenses at U21 level.

Our next match will be against Thailand U21, who also have a top class bigman leading them. Why do everyone seem to have a star bigman leading the team? Well, if Phua doesn't make it on time to get in shape, let's hope our boys continue to get the job done!

We fell to HK U21 tonight. Not something unexpected, they have quality all round, and are in great shape too. That said, they had a surprisingly high number of rebounds despite having a lower rebounding rating. We also surprisingly shot pretty badly from the line, and some underperformers were our best free throw shooters. That has more or less been my problem with the flawed FT system BB implemented because everyone's players got too good at the line with the training court. Now FT training seems like a waste coz everything is so random. That said, we had an undeserved lead after the first, so I guess things kinda evened out.

Yau Kim Hui put up his best NT performance yet, with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists on 50% shooting. Au Huat Long was equally impressive, posting a statline of 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. The only player who dished out more assists than him was Ng Liang Boon, with 6. Meanwhile, Li Wai Soon was effective in the post with 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. He narrowly missed out on a double-double as he only managed to score 9 points.

Let's hope our boys will be in better shape next week.

Hahaha, yea. I was also surprised with the early lead. But then the whole game fell apart in the next quarter. Too fast. Hahaha

Our boys returned to their winning ways tonight after an exhilarating 90-75 win over Thailand U21. It was pretty smooth sailing through most of the game, however the Thais put up a fight in the third and almost took the lead in the third. Thankfully, we came out tops thanks to an all round effort from our boys, with 3 people posting double-doubles. Lim Long Kok led the team in scoring as he put up 18 points,10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. Li Wai Soon also had a good game, with 17 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 block. He shot an efficient 8 of 10 from the field, but had a hard time from the charity stripe, only hitting 1 shot out of 4. Loo Rong Liang's return to the starting lineup saw him post a statline of 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ng Liang Boon was the only starter with an off shooting night with an abysmal 20% field goal percentage, but he tried his best to contribute in other areas. He was solid on defense, blocking 2 shots and picking up 1 steal. He also contributed 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

We face Vietnam U21 next week. They are arguably the toughest team we will face, so our boys will have to be prepared.

Philippine and Australia will big challenge for your next round.
You need to decide you will play next round with which team P or A?
(You can choose 2nd? 3rd or 4th? in this group)
Depend on you want facing China or Taiwan? That will be help you next level up or not.
Good luck bro.

Bro you are right. Looks like the placement decider came too early. PH and Aussie aren't too different so either is fine. I'm actually hoping to avoid Malaysia, but then Lebanon seems stronger than HK. I guess I'll decide how things go over the weekend.

Ah, feels great to bask in superiority. 6 players with proficient game shape, the Vietnamese couldn't bring us down despite going CT and getting 1 GDP right. It was a rather meaningless game for us since the point difference gap between us and South Korea U21 was too big, but apparently it was do or die for them, as now they risk dropping out of the top 4.

They had a chance to snatch the game after using hack-a-Shaq strategies and draining 2 consecutive clutch 3s (ironically they have been missing them throughout the game), but a pair of clutch free throws by Ng Liang Boon in the dying seconds totally dashed their hopes of a comeback as our boys edged them out 78-82.

Li Kim Choon stepped up his game after Liang Bingnan had to exit the game due to injury, and he performed admirably with 17 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds. We also had 3 other players in double figures - Lim Long Kok (17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals), Toh Choon Wah (16 points 12 rebounds), and Li Wai Soon (14 points 20 rebounds 4 assists and 2 blocks).

Our next two games will be against Australia U21 and Philippines U21. Expect us to lose both, but let's hope our boys manage to put up a great fight!

HAHAHAHAHA IMAGINE ENDING MY LAST POST WITH THIS SENTENCE!!!

I'm proud of the performance of our boys tonight. Yes we were down by 8 in the 1st. Down by 19 by halftime. But we actually clawed back and cut the lead to 5 close to the end of the 4th. Sadly that was the closest we were to causing an upset as our Filipino counterparts ended the night with a well deserved dub. Still satisfied with the result tho, it shows that we could probably have stolen the game if it was played on a different attitude (tho there was no need to).

Lim Long Kok led our boys with 23 points, however he was pretty inefficient from the field, shooting at 35% and hitting only 1 of his 6 three point attempts. Toh Choon Wah also had a pretty inefficient night, hitting only 36% from the field and getting into foul trouble. However he had by far the best +/- among the starters, and finished the game with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Li Wai Soon continued his stellar performance with a double-double as well, putting in 19 points,12 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Next week will be the last game of the round. Will Li Wai Soon hit 100 rebounds of the season in the next game? He's just 11 short, and if he keeps up his performance, it shouldn't be too far fetched.
